CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Armoni Henry, a Chicago man has reportedly killed his girlfriend over an AirTag. As per police, Jailene Flores was shot multiple times at her workplace when they reached the scene on Thursday, July 13. Henry is said to have confronted the victim for apparently removing a tracking device that he placed secretly, reports multiple media outlets.

Local police received a call reporting that an active shooter was at the Mariano's grocery store on West 95th Street in Evergreen Park, Illinois. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and was later identified as Flores, who also worked at the grocery store. A quick investigation of the case led cops to Henry as a prime suspect shooter and was immediately taken into custody, as per CBS News.

Who was Jailene Flores?

Jailene Flores, 21, worked at a grocery store called Mariano’s, where she was allegedly murdered on July 13. The suspected shooter Armoni Henry, 21, has been arrested in connection to the shooting. As per court documents, Flores showed up at work on Thursday and found 124 text messages from Henry allegedly threatening to kill her. It stated that around 9 am, Henry was recorded on a surveillance camera entering the grocery store. Prosecutors claimed that after Henry entered inside, the duo then went to the employees-only room where the shots were fired.

Moreover, a manager testified to the police after identifying Henry fleeing the scene. He allegedly ran away in a Ford Focus, which was tracked down through license plate readers, reports Fox 32 and CBS News.

According to police records, in April, Flores had obtained protection of abuse order against Henry for allegedly threatening her and her family, however, it was never served and eventually expired.

'I sit here still waiting for her to come home'

Mariano’s released a statement, via WMAQ-TV, sharing that they are ‘deeply saddened’ by the Evergreen Park incident. "The entire Mariano's family offers our thoughts, prayers, and support to all affected individuals and families during this difficult time and we have initiated counseling services for our associates,” it read. “We are cooperating with local law enforcement, and the store will remain closed while the police investigation continues."

Flores’ sister, Ashley Flores, formed a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for funeral expenses, “Unfortunately my sister was a victim of harassment and stalking from an individual who wasn’t even her boyfriend, it was a “friend” who became obsessive,” she claimed on the website. “This turned fatal and on July 13th at 9 am he ended my sister's life on what we thought would be another normal Thursday,” stated Ashley before adding, “I sit here still waiting for her to come home. Unfortunately, my family and I must accept that Jailene is no longer with us and is in heaven watching above us all."
