PORT ALLEN, LOUISIANA: High school student Ja’Kobe Queen, 16, was shot dead during the Port Allen and Brusly football game on Friday, September 1. Deputies claimed Queen's murder stemmed from an argument with 18-year-old Jarrettin Jackson II.

When the shots were fired, 28-year-old Port Allen resident Brasia Davis was hit in the arm. Both victims were taken to a hospital where Queen succumbed to his injuries.

What transpired between Ja’Kobe Queen and Jarrettin Jackson II?

Subsequently, Jackson is wanted for the second-degree murder of Queen and the attempted second-degree murder of Davis. As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the shooting.

Sgt Landon Groger revealed that there was a physical altercation involving Queen and Jackson at the game, although he couldn't confirm the presence of a weapon at the scene.

Witnesses reported that the shooting occurred in the vicinity of the concession stand, resulting in the game being called off with a tied score of 13 points. Friday's game was the 52nd Sugar Cane Classic, a longstanding tradition between Brusly High and Port Allen High.

Is Brasia Davis OK?

Davis took to her Facebook account early Saturday morning to provide an update, confirming that she had been shot in the arm but was "ok."

Port Allen City Council member Clerice Lacy, who was present at the game, condemned the violence and called for an end to senseless killings in a Facebook post.

"This day will never be forgotten, but we must stand strong. As a constant plea, I asked that we please put the guns down!!! Please stop the violence and the senseless killings. Please speak up!! If you know something say something because it could have happened to anyone of us," she said, as per The Advocate

Port Allen Mayor Richard Lee III also shared his thoughts, encouraging parents to speak with their children.

"Speak to your child about what they may have witnessed. If anyone is privy to any information that may assist investigators in revealing the identity of the perpetrators involved, please share that information with WBRP Sheriff Department," he said.

In response to this tragic incident, there will be crisis counselors available and an increased security presence at West Baton Rouge schools when classes resume on Tuesday, as announced by Superintendent Chandler Smith.
