Who was Dominic Davis? Father of 11-year-old boy killed in Cincinnati mass shooting 'begs' for information about gunman
CINCINNATI, OHIO: The family of a child who lost his life in Cincinnati mass shooting has been urging for information. On Friday, November 3, just before 9.30 pm local time, gunfire erupted in the West End area of Cincinnati, prompting a response from the police.
The officers discovered six injured people, including juveniles, upon arriving at the scene. Police said that an unidentified gunman quickly fired 22 rounds from a dark sedan.
Among the victims was an 11-year-old boy named Dominic Davis, who, unfortunately, died in the shooting.
What did Dominic Davis' father say?
Dominic's father, Isaac Davis, asked anyone with information that could lead to the shooter to come forward at a news conference on Sunday, November 5.
"When will this stop? How many people have to bury their kids, their babies, their loved ones? Anybody that knows anything, come forward, please. We're begging", he said, according to The Mirror.
Who are the other victims of Cincinnati mass shooting?
According to Cincinnati police, four victims were children aged between 12 and 15 and the fifth injured victim was a 53-year-old woman. All of them were rushed to nearby medical facilities - three to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and two to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center later confirmed that all three patients brought to their facility were in critical condition upon arrival. One patient was discharged overnight while the other two remained hospitalised in critical condition.
What did the Cincinnati police chief say?
Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge expressed her outrage. She said, "This is absolutely unacceptable in our city — unacceptable that on a Friday night six people were shot in one incident. This is happening too often. People are reverting to gun violence rather than resolving disputes in a humane manner. It is not humane to pull out a firearm and shoot individuals recklessly."
The police chief added while addressing the shooter from the press conference, "Turn yourself in. Because if you don't, we will find you and we will bring you to justice."
Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval reacted to the tragedy saying, "Children were shot. At least one life was lost. Our friends and neighbours are feeling unimaginable fear, trauma, and anger. [We must] give everything we have to deliver justice against this sickening, heartless violence."
Cincinnati City Manager Sheryl Long said, "Our entire city is grieving. [I'm] heartbroken and appalled. I will work tirelessly... to bring the perpetrators to justice. It's not enough. Violence like this cannot be our status quo. It cannot be tolerated."
