Alonna Gallon: GoFundMe for Bay Area mom killed by her ex raises over $25K for her 7-year-old son
ALBANY, CALIFORNIA: Alonna Gallon, 24, was gunned down by the father of her son at a Toyota dealership in Albany, where she worked in the service department.
Her son, 7-year-old King Walker, lost both his parents that day, as his father, who has not been identified, was shot dead by responding police officers.
Yuvonda Gallon, King's grandmother, has started a GoFundMe page for King, where she wrote, “Losing a mother so tragically is devastating for any one, especially a young child (who is) as close to their mother as King was to his."
According to King's family and investigators, Gallon was working at the Toyota dealership’s service center when she was shot by the assailant on September 21.
How was Alonna Gallon Killed?
Yuvonda Gallon wrote on King's GoFundMe page, “Alonna was tragically killed at her place of employment by her child’s father after making a conscious decision to distance herself from him due to his reckless behaviors. Alonna tried to the best of her individual abilities to create a healthy co-parenting relationship with King’s father but it unfortunately didn’t stop him from brutally taking her life.”
The Toyota center where the incident occurred is located at 1025 Eastshore Highway near the city border between Berkeley and Albany.
Officials state that they received 911 calls from several witnesses inside the building at 11.14 am, reporting that a had man entered the building and shot an employee.
Berkeley and Albany police officers responded to the call. On entering the building, they found the assailant on the second floor. A gunfight ensued, where the father was fatally shot.
The Albany Police Department is leading the homicide investigation into Alonna Gallon’s death.
There are still questions that need answers, Yuvonda stated, speaking to KTVU. She claimed it took more than six hours of waiting in a nearby police station for officers to tell her that her daughter had been killed.
She still does not have her daughter's belongings and police have not told her how many times her daughter was shot or where, she added.
Alonna Gallon's Relationship with King
Alonna is remembered as a caring, kind, and shy person, who loved her son very much. She worked at Toyota for 3 years to financially support King.
Alonna Gallon was no longer in a relationship with her alleged killer, but they were co-parenting their son.
“Alonna declared to be the best mother she could be to King from the very moment she found out she’d be a young mother. Alonna was the kind of mother who always put King’s needs before her own and dreamed of a life where she’d send her son off to college,” stated Yuvonda.
“This tragedy leaves behind a child who will need not only the support of his close family, but of the community around him.”
