Who was Adeed Fayaz?
Fayaz was a five-year police veteran and a married dad of two. After the announcement of his death, flags were seen flying half-mast at the 66th Precinct in Brooklyn. Fayaz's tragic death comes after he and his brother-in-law met with suspect Jones at a car dealership. When the trio met up, Jones instantly pulled out his gun and shot Fayaz in the head. His brother-in-law soon grabbed the fallen cop's gun from his holster and returned fire.
Police had launched a massive manhunt for the supposed cop shooter and offered a $10,000 reward for anyone bringing in Jones. However, he was identified and arrested after police found his abandoned SUV on Sunday at 129th Street and Park Avenue in Harlem. The NYPD penned a heartbreaking tribute for Fayaz and said, "It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of NYPD Police Officer Adeed Fayaz, a devoted public servant, husband, father, brother, and son," reported Daily Mail. "A five-year veteran of the NYPD, PO Fayaz served the 66 Precinct community with exceptional compassion and care. Our thoughts are with his family, colleagues, and loved ones at this difficult time. #neverforget."

A friend at the hospital "He liked to play around with [his kids] and take them out. Very good father. It's devastating to imagine his kids growing up without a father." Another friend who graduated with him said, "No one has one bad thing to say about him." Another police officer expressed his grief and said, "It's always the innocent." A former enraged NYPD officer spoke of the shooter and said, "I hope you rot in hell," adding, "What can you say about a police officer? It's someone who dedicated their life to serve and protect. And he's family man. A good man. He will be dearly missed."
Tonight, we rendered a final salute to our @NYPD66Pct brother P.O. Adeed Fayaz โ but we still need your prayers. Pray for his family. Pray for his fellow police officers. And pray that we see justice done in his name. #FidelisAdMortem pic.twitter.com/kAgO1xdmTb
