LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A security guard of Dragonfly Club, Hollywood, was beaten to death by a group of men on Sunday, July 30, just outside its premises. The authorities are now looking for suspects involved in the killing, who are expected to be at least nine if not more. “The victim was working at this nightclub, and a large group – for unknown reasons – confronted that security guard, causing him to fall into the street,” said LAPD West Bureau Homicide Division Detective Samuel Marullo.

He added, “At which time the group advanced and kicked and stomped him to death.” The officers are currently investigating whether it started inside the club and then escalated into an outside brawl, or if the fight broke outside. As per cops, the incident took place around 2 am, while the Dragonfly was full of customers and Detroit rapper Tee Grizzley was performing during its weekly Signature Saturdays.

Who owns Dragonfly Club?

Celebrities’ favorite nightclub, Dragonfly, is located on Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, and has hosted stars like Tyga, 2 Chainz, Migos, Megan Thee Stallion, and Wiz Khalifa in the past. But its name is in the news not because of any artist this time, in fact, it is over a fatal fight, where it lost one of its security personnel. The victim is yet to be identified and supposedly was in his 30s was found lying on the street before the first respondent tried to revive him but in vain, reports Daily Mail.

Dragonfly Club is co-owned by Howard Bryan Chapnick, which is a hip-hop nightclub, that hosts special parties over the weekends. Dragonfly released a statement on Sunday, mourning the death of their employee and giving an update, “As we begin to process and mourn the loss of our colleague, Dragonfly will be closed. Our hearts are with his family at this time.”

'We're exploring and canvasing the neighborhood'

Detective Marullo told a local news outlet, “We're exploring and canvasing the neighborhood to determine which cameras are operable, in order to view them. But one thing we know was that there was a lot of people present - a lot of people on the street - many of whom left the scene prior to police arriving.”

He further told ABC 7, “We know that oftentimes people will record these types of incidents on their cellphone. We would encourage them to share that with us as it can help bring a sense of justice to this person's family.” An arrest in the case is yet to made by the authorities.
