Who killed James Faith? NBC 'Dateline' to report on Dallas shooting of American Airlines manager James Faith
DALLAS, TEXAS: NBC 'Dateline' is set to launch its 32nd season with a special two-hour-long episode focusing on the high-profile shooting case in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas.
This episode covers the tragic killing of James Faith, an American Airlines manager, who was abruptly shot to death during one of his regular morning walks.
Later investigations revealed that James Faith's wife, Jennifer Faith, was responsible for the premeditated murder, which she had orchestrated in a scheme driven by greed for insurance money.
The 'Dateline' report on the case, titled 'Losing Faith,' is scheduled to air on the channel on Friday, September 29, at 9 pm ET.
How was James 'Jamie' Faith killed?
On the morning of October 9, 2020, Jamie, accompanied by his wife Jennifer and their dog Maggie, had just stepped out of their Oak Cliff home for a walk when he was tragically shot and killed.
The shooting was far from simple; Jamie sustained seven gunshot wounds, with all the bullets striking him in the head, face, chest, and groin.
According to a witness cited in Advocate Mag, the shooter was driving past their house in a black truck.
At the time, Jennifer alleged in her statement that she was also attacked by the perpetrator.
She received comfort and support from many following her husband's death, with individuals even setting up a fundraiser to collect $60,000 for the widow.
However, the situation took a dark turn when the black truck was found in Tennessee, and it was revealed that the owner was someone with a close connection to Jennifer from her past.
It turned out to be Darrin Lopez, her high school boyfriend and the perpetrator behind Jamie's murder. Investigators swiftly uncovered Jennifer's complicity in the killing as well.
Jennifer Faith involved ex-lover in her husband's murder
Detectives uncovered text message exchanges between Jennifer and Darrin, revealing not only the planning of the murder but also Jennifer's manipulation of Darrin to carry out the heinous act.
Darrin, a military veteran, had endured both physical and mental trauma from significant challenges during his service. Jennifer exploited this vulnerability and concocted a fabricated story of Jamie abusing her, both physically and sexually as reported by Fox 4 News.
To protect her from the fictitious narrative of an abusive household, Darrin was easily persuaded to conspire in planning Jamie's murder.
It was also discovered that Jennifer had orchestrated the brutal killing of her husband to secure $600k in life insurance money.
Following Darrin's arrest, he was charged with Jamie's murder. Within the next month, Jennifer was also indicted based on the evidence uncovered in the text exchanges.
Darrin only learned about the details of Jennifer's false abuse claims during the course of the investigation.
Despite pleading not guilty, Darrin was convicted and sentenced to 62 years in jail. In contrast, Jennifer, avoiding the death penalty, received a life sentence in prison.
