WESTERVILLE, OHIO: The mysterious death of 52-year-old Emily Noble who went missing in May 2020, will be re-examined in an upcoming episode of NBC's popular true crime show 'Dateline'.

The circumstances surrounding the case raised questions of whether it was a suicide or a premeditated murder. Noble who went missing from her home in Ohio, was found dead months later in a wooded area.

Eventually, her husband Matheau Moore was charged with two counts of murder, one intentional and the other connected to a charge of felonious assault. The trial that followed and the acquittal of Moore gained national attention.

'Dateline' will be reporting the investigation along with an exclusive interview with Moore in their upcoming episode 'The Clearing'. The two-hour episode will air on NBC on Friday, October 6, at 9 pm ET.

What happened to Emily Noble?

Moore reported that soon after they had celebrated Noble's 52nd birthday, on May 25, 2020, she went missing. Her husband was the first to report it when he woke up the next morning with Noble nowhere to be found. Reportedly, all her important possessions, including her car, were still securely in their place at the couple's suburban residence.

Four months later, on September 16, 2020, Noble's body was discovered in the woods after an extensive search, close to their home, hanging from a USB cord tied to a branch choking her neck.

While the initial impression of her death was suicide, the autopsy report of her heavily decomposed body revealed otherwise. Noble had sustained other injuries on her face, head, and neck besides the cord choking her. It was concluded then that her death could have been from strangulation instead of suicide, as reported by ABC 6.

Husband was suspected in Emily Noble's mysterious death

Not long after the discovery of her body, the police arrested Moore as the primary suspect in the case.

Forensic evidence led the police to believe that the injuries sustained by Noble were consistent with manual strangulation and not suicide. The police then charged Moore with two counts of murder, one intentional and the other connected to a charge of felonious assault.

The court found Moore not guilty on each count due to the lack of evidence. The trial was nationally reported at the time and the verdict left Moore emotional.

The upcoming two-hour episode, titled 'The Clearing', is set to air on Friday, October 6 at 9 pm ET on NBC.
