HUMPHREYS COUNTY, TENNESSEE: William Keaton Hall, a teenager from Tennessee, has confessed to fatally shooting his mother in the head and trying to hide evidence, according to Humphreys County sheriffs.

The 18-year-old covered up his mother Sherri Hicks Hall's body in an attempt to hide his act of crime, reported Law and Crime.

Who was Sherri Hicks Hall?

Speaking to WKRN, a friend and former co-worker of Sherri said she was shocked to learn the news of the alleged homicide which she thinks was "mind-boggling."

Elliott said that the late 54-year-old woman was the "sweetest woman you’re ever going to meet,” and noted Sherri "loved those kids" and “loved them boys."

She further added saying it is unclear whether the alleged killer's father is dead or estranged from the family.

"I know there’s two twins now without dad and mom, and so I just, I pray that them boys can heal," said Elliott.

What led to Sherri Hick Hall's death?

On Wednesday, August 23, the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the home the alleged murderer shared with his mother and discovered her dead body.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said Hall left the home with his 15-year-old siblings, twin boys after he told them that three of them should go to their grandmother's house telling them that "'something had happened to mom'".

The 911 call to the police department came in after Hall and his siblings arrived at their grandmother's place.

However, it remains unclear what led to the fatal confrontation between the alleged killer and his 54-year-old mother.

"The motive is still being worked on," said Davis noting that they believe "some issues may have been built up over time."

"We are still trying to figure it out and work on motive to get a really clear synopsis," he added.

What are the charges against William Keaton Hall?

Hall, who tried to hide evidence after trying to dispose his mother's body, was taken into custody on August 24, as per arrest records.

The 18-year-old was deemed a suspect in the initial phase of the investigation and is now charged with criminal homicide.

Sheriff Davis described the homicide case as "a very difficult case with many twists and turns."

An investigation into the tragic murder is ongoing. Hall is held on a bond of $82,000 at the Humphreys County Jail in Waverly, Tennessee.
