Who is warden at FPC Pensacola? Todd Chrisley's lawyer claims prison 'does very little rehabilitation' of inmates
PENSACOLA, FLORIDA: The warden of FPC Pensacola, a minimum-security federal prison for male inmates, is William Woods, per fed.bop.gov.
This facility is situated on Saufley Field, which is an outlying field of Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida.
The FPC Pensacola has been in the news lately due to allegations surrounding reality star Todd Chrisley, who has been the alleged witness and victim of "a very cruel, broken, and inhumane system" at the facility.
These allegations include the disturbing revelation that he was given the wrong medication, according to his attorney, Jay Surgent, as reported by Radar Online.
The facility also has been dubbed one of the "cushiest" in America, per New York Post.
What did Todd Chrisley's lawyer claim about FPC Pensacola?
"The medical department is in shambles," he stated, accusing prison personnel of giving the imprisoned 'Chrisley Knows Best' singer "medicine intended and belonging to another inmate."
Todd isn't the only one, according to reports.
Surgent also accused the medical department of "inadvertently" administering insulin to another prisoner, claiming that "the administration of this medicine rendered them unconscious and they were rushed to the hospital" only three weeks ago.
"These types of mix-ups and mistakes are inexcusable and just another indication of how terrible these conditions are and have become," he claimed.
Todd is currently serving a 12-year term at the minimum security jail, which was recently reduced to ten years after he and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were found guilty of bank and tax fraud.
What else did Todd Chrisley witness at FPC Pensacola?
Todd claims to have seen other incidents while incarcerated besides the medication mix-up.
Surgent claimed that Muslims who are imprisoned are not allowed to attend religious services and that prisoners have been made to labor outside in "dangerous" weather conditions.
"This summer, when the heat index in Florida was well over 100 degrees, the Navy base where the prison is located had a 'black flag warning,' which required no movement outside for military staff and personnel," he said to RadarOnline.
"This was done because the military base, the US Navy leadership, had determined that the temperatures were unsafe for outdoor movement and activities."
"However, the inmates that work on the base to do mowing, weeding and general landscaping, maintenance and manual labor, those inmates were required to work in spite of the unsafe and truly dangerous conditions."
Surgent alleged that Muslim prisoners "are regularly being denied access and opportunity to participate in their faith-based worship services. The reason for this is striking."
Todd's attorney reportedly said, "the leadership at FPC Pensacola have decided these inmates should be required to work during their scheduled worship times. So their right to practice their freedom of expression and religion is being denied so that they can provide free labor to the camp and the BOP."
FPC Pensacola 'does very little rehabilitation'
He further claimed that Todd's facility is unconcerned about preparing inmates for life after prison.
"FPC Pensacola does very little rehabilitation. In fact, not a single person has received their GED from that institution in the last three years. Not a single one," Surgent stated.
Todd Chrisley's priorities
Todd, according to Surgent, is "focused and determined" in order to "create real, lasting systemic change within the US Justice System and particularly within the American Prison System."
His lawyer also stated that it is "one of his very highest priorities, aside from being reunited with his wife and children."
