NORMAN, OKLAHOMA: Vaughn Cannon, a 41-year-old Cleveland County Deputy, has been arrested for allegedly fatally shooting his wife, Jordan, 40, who was a cop too, on Wednesday, August 30.

Police reported that Cannon was taken into custody early in the morning after the incident from their residence in Brookstone Lake Drive.

Bodycam video captured the moment cops arrived at the bedroom door to find Cannon sobbing next to Jordan's body, per the Daily Mail.

Cannon reportedly shot Jordan early morning on August 30. They reportedly got into a "heated argument" after 1 am.

As the argument intensified, Cannon allegedly shot his wife. According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, the incident happened at roughly 2 am. Jordan was declared dead on the spot.

Police then arrested Cannon without encountering any other significant issues. He has not been charged with homicide yet, per the authorities.

Cleveland County Sheriff Chris Amason reportedly said, "This is something no one can begin to prepare for, we ask for your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this devastating event.

He added, "We are actively trying to mend and repair this void that is left at the Sheriff’s office and in our community."



 

 

According to the Oklahoma City Police Department, the couple had no prior history of domestic violence.

Amason stated, "The best way we can honor her is not to let her death be in vain. And to remember that domestic violence crosses all professions, socioeconomic lines, gender, and races."

An investigation into the incident in underway.

Tributes pour in for Vaughn Cannon's wife Jordan

According to KOCO-TV and The Oklahoman, Cannon started off as a school resource officer for the Cleveland County Sheriff's Office before switching to the patrol division.

She later worked as a crisis intervention team instructor, per PEOPLE.

Amason wrote on Facebook, "We are all heartbroken. Jordan was a ray of sunshine with a smile that could light up a room. She loved being a deputy sheriff and had a heart for serving others."

Amason added, "This is a difficult time for everyone involved, but we will get through this together. I have called in our peer support group, counselors, and our chaplain to help our employees and community get through this difficult time."



 

Okarche Police Chief Forrest R Smith also offered Jordan tributes in a Facebook post.

The post read, "We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Cleveland County Deputy Jordan Cannon, a brave officer who was senselessly murdered last night."

It added, "This heinous act not only robs us of a dedicated and courageous public servant, but it also shakes the very foundations of the community she served."
