HURON, OHIO: A suspected bank robber, Tristan Heidl, was arrested by police in the wee hours of Wednesday, July 26, when he directly landed from the roof access door to the drive-thru. As per Huron Police Department, the officers received an alarm from the VacationLand Federal Credit Union at 2402 University Drive East in Huron at around 2.12 am, reports Fox. Police immediately reached the location and started checking the building.

The cops noticed a blue recycle bin conspicuously placed directly under a roof access door in the middle of the drive-thru lane. It was then they witnessed Heidle trying to escape through the roof access door.



 

Who is Tristan Heidl?

Tristan Heidle is a 27-year-old man suspected of a bank robbery in Huron, Ohio. On Wednesday, July 26, Heidle was arrested by the HPD for breaking into the VacationLand Federal Credit Union. The video released by the police body cam shows the officers were waiting when they heard noises from inside the roof’s access door. After the officers take positions at a safe distance, the access door pops open with a loud crash. A suspect dressed in black drops a backpack from the open access door. Police said the backpack contained several construction tools. 

Huron Police Chief Terry Graham said that Heidl was not injured by the fall. Graham further added, "He was cooperative once he was apprehended," before revealing the reason why Heidle attempted the robbery, "He answered the officers' questions truthfully, and he just said he was broke," per Fox. 

What are the charges against Tristan Heidl?

Heidl was charged with a number of criminal cases including breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony; possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony; and safecracking, a fourth-degree felony under Ohio law. If Heidl is convicted then he might receive three years of prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.

As per ABC7, Heidl was detained at the Erie County Jail. However, Police Chief Terry Graham told CNN that Heidl waved his preliminary hearing on Friday, July 28. His case would go to a grand jury in the Erie County Common Pleas Court in Sandusky, Ohio. Chief Graham also said that Heidl is being held at a $50,000 bail, per People.
