‘I can't be helped’

The Moody Police Department were responding to a 911 call around 8.30 pm on Wednesday, July 12, to reports of an adult woman being attacked at a home in the 100 block of Avenue E. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered Williams in the backyard, wearing a shirt "saturated in blood" and holding a bloody knife, muttering incoherently.

Williams' wife, whose identity has been withheld, was rushed to the Hillcrest Medical Center by ambulance. She had sustained 11 stab wounds to her stomach, head, hands and arms, according to KWTX-TV.

According to the report, Williams initially refused to drop the knife when ordered to do so by an officer. The second time, he responded with, "Nope. I can't be helped. I lost the love of my life." He then informed them that his wife was still inside the house.

'I'm about to kill myself. I love you'

Williams' wife reportedly told the police that they had been fighting for several weeks until she told him to leave the house, leading to the attack where he forcefully gripped her head and pressed both thumbs into her eyes. Her son and father, who also live in the same home, witnessed the attack. Her son saw Williams on top of her in the living room, smoking a cigarette and holding a knife, showing no emotion or concern in his eyes before putting the cigarette out on her forehead and stabbing her.

Fortunately, her son and father managed to intervene, enabling her to call 911 from the bathroom during the struggle. The victim's father mentioned going to his room to get his gun when Williams screamed, "I’m about to kill myself. I love you," from the backyard. The suspect is being held in McLennan County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
