LOUIS COUNTY, MISSOURI: Tommy Wayne Boyd, a 45-year-old prisoner from Missouri, has made a daring escape while being treated in the hospital, Louis County police Department said in a statement.
Boyd, considered dangerous by the authorities is serving 30 years- in prison. He was incarcerated at Potosi Correctional Facility after being convicted of child sex offences in Louis County.
How did Tommy Wayne Boyd escape from prison?
On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Tommy Wayne Boyd was transported to Mercy Hospital South from the Potosi Correctional Facility for treatment.
However, at approximately 3.54 a.m on Thursday, September 21, he was last seen by Mercy Hospital personnel.
At 4.30 AM, officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct were alerted to Mercy Hospital South.
The police arrived at the hospital at the 10000 block of Kennerly Road, St Louis, MO 63128, for a report of an escape from custody.
Later the surveillance video showed Boyd leaving the hospital on foot, and "travelling in an unknown direction," the Louis County Police Department stated on Facebook.
The pictures released by the police showed Boyd walking down a hallway in the hospital wearing a black sweatshirt or jacket, shorts and orange slippers.
"He should be considered dangerous. It is unknown if he is armed," the department said. "Anyone seeing Boyd should immediately call 911."
While the residents have been urged to be aware of their surroundings.

Tommy Wayne Boyd who is 5'7" with balding hair and beard was being guarded by two Missouri Department of Corrections officers when he escaped, a hospital spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News.
"There was no physical confrontation, no one was hurt and video surveillance shows the escapee leaving the hospital," the statement said.
"While there is no evidence he is still on the hospital campus, to ensure the safety of everyone, we are conducting a complete search of all our buildings."

Boyd who is serving 30 years, was sentenced to statutory sodomy as per police.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol maintains the sex offender registry said Boyd committed first-degree statutory sodomy in October 1996 when the victim was just 11 years old and Boyd was 18.
Police have said that "the investigation is active at this time. Additional information will be disseminated as it becomes available."
