MAYSVILLE, COLORADO: Tisha Leewaye, a friend of Suzanne Morphew, slammed police for their “accidental” discovery of her dead body three years after her disappearance.

Suzanne disappeared in May 2020 during a bike ride near her home in Maysville, Colorado. Recently, police announced that while searching for a different missing woman, they found the 49-year-old mother of two’s remains from Moffat, 45 miles south of Maysville.

Tisha Leeway calls police's accidental discovery of remains 'infuriating'

While Leewaye admits that the finding is a “huge step,” she is infuriated that the remains were discovered “accidentally.”

She told The US Sun, "This is a huge step but there’s still so much we don’t know,” before adding, "Pandora’s box has opened and we need to answer those questions."

Castigating the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Leewaye said, "They have a lot to answer for.”

The beautician explained, "It’s infuriating she was found accidentally. Clearly [the area] wasn’t on their radar. "

However, she is hopeful that the discovery will finally send the ball rolling as she said, "The fact it was the CBI that made this discovery fills me with hope that they will start pushing harder for answers.”

Leewaye has been the driving force in conducting search parties for Suzanne. She told the outlet, "I’ve spent the last three years pushing for answers and I hope finally the questions we have will be answered soon."

Tisha Leewaye initially blamed Suzanne’s husband Barry

Leewaye has, however, blamed Suzanne’s husband Barry Morphew for her disappearance. She previously told The US Sun, "He thinks that he knows they're not going to find her.”

She claimed that Suzanne’s disappearance came at the heels of her decision to divorce Barry following a two-year affair with a high school sweetheart.

Leewaye further claimed, "This was all about money," as Barry started selling their shared properties after the mother-of-two’s disappearance.

He sold an Indiana house for $750,000 and Suzanne’s car, a Range Rover, for $70,000.

Barry was arrested in 2021 with the charges of first-degree murder. The charges were, however, dropped in 2022 with prejudice.

Barry's attorney asserts he is innocent

Barry’s attorney Iris Eytan has always maintained the innocence of Suzanne’s husband and said to the news outlet on Wednesday, September 27, that the cops have not informed the family about the discovery of the remains.

Eytan said, "Barry is with his daughters and they are all struggling with immense shock and grief,” and added, "They had faith that their wife and mom would walk back into their lives again.”

He said, “The news is heartbreaking,” before continuing, "Neither the DA nor the authorities notified Mallory and Macy Morphew [Suzanne’s children] about the recovery of their mom.”

He further said, "From what we know, Barry is as innocent as he was from Day 1. DA Stanley and law enforcement got it wrong.”

"We hope the authorities will quickly admit their wrongful persecution of Barry, an innocent man, to treat the Morphews like victims they are, and charge the person(s) responsible for Suzanne's killing," concluded the attorney.
