WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Timothy Ferriter was found guilty of all charges for confining his adopted son in an unventilated 8x8 box situated in their home’s garage. The case has garnered substantial public interest, not just because of the grave nature of the charges, but also due to the involvement of the Florida father's wife, Tracy Ferriter.

Tracy has been largely silent in the media during the trial. She has, though, demonstrated restraint and strong support throughout the process.

Timothy Ferriter's wife was observed shedding tears, evidently heartbroken by the jury’s decision, despite the horrific revelations and the guilty verdicts, per Court TV.

Timothy Ferriter has been found guilty on one count each of aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment, and neglect of a child, per Law & Crime.

The case reportedly started as a runaway child case and ended with the finding of the boy's living situation. The youngster was reportedly locked in a small room in the garage for 16 to 18 hours a day, per NBC News.

Jurors in Palm Beach County found the defendant guilty on all charges after a two-hour and thirty-three-minute deliberation, according to the Law&Crime Network's verdict clock.

The man, now convicted, was first taken into custody on February 8, 2022, on child abuse and false imprisonment. His spouse, Tracy, aged 48, was also indicted at that time.

The trials were separated following a request from the husband’s defense lawyer, who argued that the wife had given inconsistent statements throughout the investigation.

Testimony during the trial, as well as prior police statements, highlighted that the child’s living quarters resembled a prison cell, measuring just 8 feet by 8 feet.

"The juvenile was able to attend school; however, was confined to the structure during the remainder of the day," the Jupiter Police Department stated at the time of the arrest. "Meals were brought to the child, and the bucket was provided for bathroom use."

Timothy Ferriter's wife's trial

Tracy Ferriter continues to be free on bond as she awaits her trial, facing the same accusations for which her husband has been found guilty.

How many years will Timothy Ferriter face in prison?

The charge of aggravated child abuse, a first-degree felony, could potentially lead to a prison sentence of up to 40 years for Ferriter.

Prya Murad, who is representing Tim Ferriter, mentioned that the sentencing guidelines in Florida suggest a minimum of 35 months, per Court TV.

Prosecutor Brianna Coakley has not yet disclosed her recommended punishment for Ferriter, who is due back in court for sentencing in November.
