HARTSELLE, ALABAMA: An elderly Alabama woman was found in critical condition and covered in grass stains after her son tried to run over her with two separate lawnmowers, police said. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said when they reported to the scene, they discovered Phillip Glenn Brennan's mother who was complaining of her injuries.

According to the reports of NBC affiliate WAFF, the woman had leaves in her hair and visible marks on her body. The authorities claimed they were informed that Brennan initiated the attack on his mother, smacking her first with a shovel and then running over her feet with a push mower before he next mounted the family’s riding mower.

Who is Phillip Glenn Brennan?

Phillip Glenn Brennan, 29, of Alabama was arrested on August 7 after a neighbor called 911 using their home alarm system upon hearing a disturbance on their block. He was charged with elder abuse and neglect in the second degree. He was also charged with domestic violence in the third degree.

According to the authorities, Brennan struck his mother with the riding mower and dragged her behind him across the yard. The Hartselle resident is booked into the Morgan County Jail and his bail was set for $20,300.

An alarming February 2023 report from The Montgomery Advertiser stated that elder abuse incidents are up in Alabama and across the other states in the country. Such incidents tend to increase over the summer months and holidays.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, there were 12,033 reported elder abuse incidents last year which is higher than the 11,122 reported incidents in 2021.

Owners of a popular family farm were almost beaten to death by their son

Meaww previously reported in February this year that the owners of a popular Florida family farm were almost beaten to death by their son. Rachel Knaus Grafe and Herbert Grafe, owners of the Knaus Berry Farm, known for its strawberries and freshly baked cinnamon rolls, were attacked by their son with a flashlight when the former refused to give her adult son money.

Travis Grafe, 40, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery, and one act of domestic assault for the February 17 attack at the home in the 24500 block of Southwest 157th Avenue. A new police report revealed that the attack stemmed from Travis not wanting his mother to be his legal guardian anymore.
