HARFORD COUNTY, MARYLAND: Slain Maryland mother Rachel Morin’s family and the police have enlisted the help of criminal profiler Pat Brown to provide a written description of the suspected killer.

Pat Brown, a 68-year-old criminal profiler, is also a renowned author and commentator who has published several books including ‘Killing for Sport: Inside the Minds of Serial Killers’, ‘The Profiler: My Life Hunting Serial Killers and Psychopaths’, ‘How to Save Your Daughter's Life: Straight Talk for Parents from America's Top Criminal Profiler’, and ‘The Murder of Cleopatra: History's Greatest Cold Case’.

The celebrity criminal profiler has provided crime commentary and forensic analysis on channels including CNN, MSNBC, FOX, NBC, and CBS and has been a guest on ‘Today’, ‘The Early Show’, ‘Nancy Grace’, ‘America's Most Wanted’, and ‘Coast to Coast AM’.

Why has Rachel Morin’s family enlisted the help of Pat Brown?

The 37-year-old Rachel Morin disappeared on Saturday, August 5 when she went for a walk along the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland. Her dead remains were recovered along the same trail on the next day. Since then, the police have been on the lookout for the killer of the mother-of-five.

Matthew McMahon, the father of Morin’s oldest child, hoped an arrest would have been made by this point. He said, “I think everybody, myself included, in the family had hoped that somebody would be apprehended by now,” per Fox 45.

Another Bel Air resident Robert Zimmerman said, “I think everybody is awaiting answers.”

Very little information is available about the suspect as the only images released by the authorities have the man’s face obscured and back turned.

The father of Morin’s child asked for Brown's help to get a visual depiction of the killer. He said, "There's definitely somebody in this area that knows who he is, but they may be in denial that the person they know is this person," per CBS News.

He reasoned that if they look at the description, they can identify the killer, saying, “So, when they look at that profile, they can start identifying it with that person that much more.”

It is to be noted that the DNA obtained from the Ma & Pa Trail in Bel Air, from where Morin disappeared, matched with the DNA of the suspect of an unsolved home invasion and assault case in Los Angeles that happened in March.

Who is Rachel Morin’s killer?

The investigators suspect the killer to be a Hispanic male in the age bracket of 20-30. He is estimated to be 5-foot-9 and about 160 pounds.

The criminal profiler Pat Brown, who has been entrusted with the job of coming with a visual depiction, said, per Fox 45, “I feel very strongly about this, a bullet point profile should go out to the public. I wish this would happen in every crime.”

Terming the man as a probable psychopath, she said, “Bel Air is 40 miles north of Baltimore,” before adding, “You don't just roll in there on a bus for no reason. He has to know somebody that he came to stay with in Bel Air.”

Brown and the sheriff are also not averse to the idea of labeling the person as a serial killer. She added, “This is why it's so important for the community to identify this man because he will commit the crime again.”

She said, "We don't think a person we know—one of our relatives, one of our friends, the next-door neighbor, the guy who's working for us—we don't recognize them as serial killers," before adding, "So, that's why after they're caught, we're like, wow."

McMahon urged, “Please carefully examine the profile, read everything,” and continued “We only need one tip. One tip and we can save other lives and we can bring justice to Rachel, her family, and our children.”

What is known so far about Rachel Morin's killer?

While releasing footage of the suspect, Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler opined that Morin’s murderer could be a ‘serial killer,’ saying, "Serial killers all start somewhere. What he did in Los Angeles was certainly, I believe, in that direction. I believe it was his intention to inflict more serious physical harm,” per The Independent.
