PINELLAS COUNTY, FLORIDA: Mark Alan McKeown, a Florida man allegedly repeatedly ran over his elderly father with his pickup truck in a bar parking lot.

As per court and jail records, he’s currently behind bars on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

Deputies in Pinellas County released a statement on Thomas McKeown’s death, “The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to R Bar located at 245 108th Avenue in Treasure Island to investigate a fatal hit and run vehicle versus pedestrian crash.”

The authorities also shared more details on the fatal accident. “According to investigators, 86-year-old Thomas McKeown was struck and dragged by a black pickup truck in the parking lot of 245 108th Avenue. The black pickup truck fled the scene prior to the deputy’s arrival," they said.

What kind of vehicle killed Thomas McKeown?

The authorities, in its press release, mentioned the pickup truck model. “Through various investigative techniques, investigators learned that a 2019 black Dodge Ram backed into a parking space in the parking lot. McKeown walked towards the truck and appeared to fall to the ground in front of the truck," they said.

Investigators say the truck then started to move and ran over McKeown, dragging him into the parking lot. The truck then reverses and moves forward multiple times, running over him each time before leaving the scene.

The incident took place on on Saturday, November 11, at around 8.36 pm, before deputies were assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).

Thomas McKeown is held on a $ 50,000 bond 

The deputies had no doubt that all this time it was Thomas’ son Mark Alan who was operating the pickup truck. “Investigators learned Thomas McKeown’s son, 61-year-old Mark McKeown, was operating the pickup truck that struck Thomas. Mark was taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death,” as per the statement.

McKeown was taken to the hospital where the medical staff declared him dead, and informed next of kin. While the investigation is still on, a $50,000 bond was set for Mark Alan, reports Law and Crime.
