REDDING, CALIFORNIA: A California woman stands accused of deliberately causing her daughter's death through a drug overdose and denying her any emergency medical care.

On Tuesday, August 8, Macie Marie Silvey was taken into custody for a count each of murder of her daughter and is booked into Shasta County Jail where she is being held without bail, according to Law and Crime.

Who is Macie Silvey?

In January, law enforcement and emergency medical personnel and law enforcement were dispatched to the intersection of Deschutes Road at State Highway 44 in response to a report of an unresponsive two-year-old child inside a vehicle, according to Redding authorities.

Although fire and medical personnel quickly arrived at the scene and shifted the child to a local hospital by ambulance, she succumbed to her condition later that evening. Suspicion surrounding the circumstances of the two-year-old girl's death prompted authorities to assume control of the investigation.

Silvey gave the prescribed medication with criminal intent

Talking about the child's drug overdose, authorities stated, "Detectives worked tirelessly over the last seven months and determined that on the day of the child’s death, the two-year-old was deliberately provided as well as given access to prescription medication with criminal intent by her mother, Macie Marie Silvey, 21, years of Redding."

"Despite knowing her child had consumed multiple medications and was displaying symptoms of overdosage, Silvey drove the child to a rural area of Shasta County and prevented her from receiving emergency medical aid for multiple hours," they added.

Charging Silvey with both the murder and kidnapping of her daughter, authorities obtained a no-bail arrest warrant against her on Tuesday. Officers in Redding have not yet disclosed the identity of the child.

Police have appealed to the public for any additional information that could help the ongoing investigation. Individuals who possess relevant details regarding the case are urged to contact the detective division of the Redding police department, according to the outlet.

The horrifying case has sent shockwaves through the local community that has left the neighborhood deeply disturbed by the allegations against the young mother.

As the legal proceedings unfold in the case, the Redding community continues to seek answers as to how such a tragedy could take place and how justice will be served for the 21-year-old woman as it serves as a reminder of the necessity for responsible medical intervention, especially in situations involving vulnerable individuals.
