SENECA COUNTY, OHIO: An Ohio man who reportedly killed a newborn in a vehicle accident has been charged with murder, according to the police. On Wednesday, July 12, after he reportedly abducted his girlfriend's 7-month-old daughter, a Seneca County Grand Jury indicted 23-year-old Johnathan Baker on counts of abduction and aggravated homicide.

The Tiffin Police Department said that on Tuesday, June 27, Baker reportedly fled after taking the little child and had a gun with him in his bright yellow Camaro. Baker apparently confided in his girlfriend that he was feeling suicidal and homicidal. He allegedly informed her that he killed her daughter before the event, according to the police.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office off-deputy officer reported to Tiffin police that he had seen Baker and followed the abduction suspect, according to the police. After learning the Camaro's position from the off-duty officer, local Seneca County Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop at one point, but the driver had other plans.

Baker 'erratically' drove the Camaro

According to police, Baker "erratically" drove the Camaro as it traveled at a high rate of speed through a resident's front yard before striking another house and upending it. Before removing the child and Baker, a number of police worked together to shatter the Camaro's back glass.

Officers conducted CRP on Baker and the girl before removing them from the vehicle and transporting them to a local hospital. According to the police, the child died from her wounds after being taken to the hospital. Baker is still in serious condition at Toledo St Vincent's Hospital after being flown there, as reported by FoxNews.

'My heart breaks for the family of this innocent child'

Prosecutors stated in a joint statement that the infant's postmortem showed she had been shot twice and perished as a result of the wounds. Tiffin police Chief David W Pauly said, "My heart breaks for the family of this innocent child. The Tiffin Police wish to extend our deepest condolences to the family." He added, "This was an unfortunate tragedy today and these things also take its toll on our first responders. My thoughts and prayers are with them as well."
