Who is John Dill? Larry Rudolph's mistress' attorney says convicted wife-killer's prison sentence is 'excessive'
DENVER, COLORADO: John Dill, the attorney representing Lori Milliron, the former girlfriend of dentist Larry Rudolph, recently said that the sentence imposed on the latter was “excessive” in nature.
Rudolph was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for the murder of his wife Bianca Rudolph. However, Dill told People that he does not believe Rudolph was responsible for his wife’s death.
What did lawyer John Dill say?
Milliron's attorney, Dill said, “Like in Ms Milliron’s case, we feel Dr Rudolph’s sentence was excessive.”
He continued, “We empathize with Dr Rudolph’s family, but do not believe that he murdered his wife Bianca.”
Dill added, “Our plan remains to push Ms Milliron’s case through appeal and exonerate her. We are confident Dr Rudolph’s lawyers will do the same for their client,” as reported by People.
Larry Rudolph was sentenced on Monday, August 21, after being convicted last year, in 2022, for the 2016 shooting of his wife, Bianca Rudolph, during a hunting expedition in Zambia.
Multiple news sources, including The Washington Post and the Associated Press, have reported on this case. He was found guilty of fatally shooting Bianca using a 12-gauge shotgun.
Initially, Rudolph suggested his wife might have accidentally shot herself while handling her firearm.
However, prosecutors alleged that Rudolph orchestrated the act to claim a substantial life insurance payout and to continue his relationship with Milliron, with whom he was having an affair when Bianca died.
In August 2022, prosecutors also secured a guilty verdict for Milliron. She was charged as an accessory after the fact to the murder, obstruction of justice, and two counts of perjury before the grand jury.
Prosecutors claimed that Milliron, who had been summoned to provide information to a grand jury regarding Bianca Rudolph's death, lied to shield Larry Rudolph from legal action.
Prosecutors further asserted that Rudolph had provided Milliron with monetary payments before Bianca's death.
When questioned about these transactions, Milliron professed ignorance about their purpose, stating that Rudolph was merely being generous.
What was Larry Rudolph's mistress Lori Milliron's sentence?
During the trial, Lori Milliron informed the jury that Rudolph was annoyed by the FBI's investigation, believing himself to be "probably innocent."
Contrary to this, prosecutors asserted that Rudolph admitted to Milliron in 2020, "I killed my [expletive] wife for you."
In June, Milliron received a prison sentence of 17 years and was fined $250,000 by the court.
Dill clarified that Milliron and Rudolph are no longer in a relationship, explaining, "Due to their incarceration, they have not communicated since late last year."
Furthermore, Rudolph was instructed to pay $4,877,744 in restitution, a $2 million fine, and forfeit assets obtained after the crime.
Attorney David Oscar Markus, representing Rudolph, told People, "Larry is innocent. He did not murder his wife. We anticipate the appeal in this case, which presents several promising legal issues."
