DOWER, DELAWARE: Joel Reynoso, 27 of Henderson, Maryland, shot and killed 53-year-old Michael Coffey after a road rage incident in Delaware over the weekend, authorities reportedly said.

Just before 6.30 pm on Saturday, September 2, Delaware State Police were called to a shooting in Hartly, which is roughly 10 miles west of Dover, in the 2400 block of Halltown Road.

Why was Joel Reynoso arrested?

A press release said that when cops arrived, they discovered two cars stopped in the westbound lane and the victim, Coffey, of Marydel, Delaware, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound, per Law & Crime.

Troopers and concerned citizens performed CPR on Coffey until paramedics arrived. The victim was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Detectives later discovered that Reynoso was operating a Nissan Frontier pickup truck recklessly and dangerously close to Coffey's Dodge Durango, according to troopers.

Coffey then passed Reynoso and stopped in the middle of the road, prompting the latter to come to a halt. The two exited their cars and began fighting until they were separated by a witness.

According to police, Coffey went back to Reynoso's Nissan to retrieve his baseball cap, which had reportedly come off during the altercation.

At that point, troopers said that Reynoso fired one shot, wounding Coffey in the torso. After that, Reynoso stayed in his truck, and troopers quickly took him into custody without incident.

According to officials, the gun used in the incident was stolen from Orlando, Florida, back in 2015. Reynoso is forbidden from owning a gun, and the press release does not specify why.

What are the charges against Joel Reynoso?

Reynoso was taken into custody on charges of first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed firearm, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, and two counts of terroristic threatening.

Reynoso was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and remanded to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a bond of $1,084,000, as per the release
