LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' Season 23 coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Chance The Rapper, and Niall Horan recently came across a soulful falsetto as JB Somers paid a heartfelt tribute to his sister whom he lost due to drug addiction.

Somers' emotional performance nearly tears up Kelly who immediately turned her chair for the aspiring singer. Meanwhile, Chance waited until Somers soared through the song's falsetto lines. Who is JB Somers?

Somers belongs to Montgomery, Alabama, and currently resides in Nashville. The pop singer-songwriter has an impressive vocals. Somers has always had a passion for music that connects people to themselves, each other, and a higher power, as his website suggests. Growing up in the Evangelical church inspired Somers to make music. But it was in 2016, Somers' life scattered after the unfortunate death of his sister. However, he decided to overcome his woes and that was when he kicked off his singing career professionally. Somers has appeared on Songhouse where Kyndal Inskeep has built her career and other past 'The Voice' contestants have also appeared. Somers' music is influenced by gospel and soul. He further notes on the website, his music sounds like something pop hitmaker Lauv would put out. Additionally, Somers adds to his website that he aims to utilize his platform to encourage others to live freely and love every part of their identity and journey because everyone was created with a purpose.

An emotional tribute to his sister

Somers, 31, performs 'A case of you' by Joni Mitchell. His voice touched 'The Voice' coaches' hearts with Kelly immediately turning her chair for him. Soon after Kelly, Chance hit the buzzer. Notably, both Kelly and Chance gave JB a standing ovation. Kelly gushed that she loves the song choice adding when she turned around the performance was even more beautiful. Meanwhile, Chance also praised the aspiring singer saying that it took him longer to turn because of how particular he is about hearing people cover Joni Mitchell, and he was waiting to hear his high register. Niall regrets not turning around and called himself "an idiot." The former 1D member explained that his team is nearly full and he already has someone similar to him. Somers chooses 'Team Kelly.' The singer paid a touching tribute to his sister. Somers explains how his sister got addicted to drugs and it ultimately led to her death. Notably, social media users were also left touched by his performance. They took to the comment section of Somers' audition video and penned, "JB Somers, your sister would have been happy for you." Another user added, "😍😍 So good and he made this performance as a dedication to his sister who died from a drug overuse as said in a pre-performance interview." Another user commented, "So amazing! He made me cry." Another user said, "I can’t stop crying." Another user wrote, "Wow!!! ❤️ I felt this in my soul! Thank you!" The Voice' Season 23 will air every Monday at 8 pm ET on NBC.
