MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA: Miami Beach Police have accused a 24-year-old burglar, Diego Sebastiani Estrada, of targeting reality television celebrities flaunting their expensive jewelry and opulence on social media by finding out their whereabouts and subsequently going after their belongings.

Star of MTV’s 'Siesta Key', Sam Logan, 32, recently fell victim to an orchestrated burglary attempt suspected to have been committed by the Miami Beach burglar, who had watched Sam flaunt his wealth on social media before and plotted his devious scheme accordingly.

Sam was robbed outside his $13-million-dollar mansion after he returned from the Sushi Bichi restaurant with his group of affluent friends.

He and his friends frequently flaunt their expensive ornaments and watches on social media with no attempt to hide their location, which even prompted a warning from the police.

According to Miami Beach Police, the suspect used social media to track down said group of celebrities before confronting them and robbing them at gunpoint.

How was Sam Logan robbed?

Miami Beach Police's Christopher Bess stated, “The subject knew exactly who he was looking for and what he was looking for as well,” per Local10.

Diego followed the group who had accompanied Logan to the sushi restaurant through social media.

After finding their home, the suspect entered the mansion with his face covered.

When they returned to Logan’s place, the group was jumped in the driveway and a gun was pointed at one of the victim’s heads in an upstairs bedroom inside the mansion.

According to officials, Diego escaped with a $40,000 Rolex watch, a gold chain forcefully snatched away from one of the group member's necks, and another victim's Range Rover.

Police traced Diego by tracking the stolen vehicle's GPS, which was picked up at a Holiday Inn in Hialeah, Florida less than 24 hours after the robbery incident.

Estrada was attempting to move the Range Rover when he was apprehended and now faces four felony charges.

“Be careful what you post on social media, who you follow, and who follows you,“ Bess cautioned.

Not his first rodeo

Sam Logan is the billionaire heir to his parents' construction business fortune. His parents also own a partial share in media company the Scripps Network.

Logan rose to nationwide fame on MTV’s ‘Siesta Key’, a reality television show featuring the opulent lifestyle of wealthy Gulf Coast residents.

Logan’s Instagram is brimming with photos showcasing his enormous riches, including the insides of his private jet, and luxury cars, and he always often shows off his exotic vacations.

It was not Logan’s first time being stalked or targeted. He and his fellow castmates from ‘Siesta Key’, Brandon Gomes and Jordana Barnes, fell victim to a terrifying home invasion on January 15, 2023.

TMZ reported that the group was hanging out and watching sports at Sam's mansion when two armed men entered via sliding glass doors and demanded Brandon's watch before striking him on the head with a gun.

They were unsuccessful in nabbing the wristwear Brandon was wearing but made off with an $80,000 Audemars Piguet watch that Logan possessed and several iPhones.

It was recently revealed that after having gone through the incident in January, Logan had hired the services of 24/7 armed guards at his sprawling mansion, per TMZ. So far, it is unclear where he has gone back on the presence of armed security in recent months.

This disturbing trend highlights the double-edged sword of social media fame. If anything, Sam’s story can be used as a cautionary tale to limit the exposure of one’s belongings and whereabouts on social media, in order to escape the prying eyes that await the right opportunity to pounce unannounced.
