Who is Devyn Michaels? Las Vegas woman arrested after boyfriend's headless body was found by his mom in Nevada
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: A Las Vegas woman has been taken into custody in connection with the murder of her 47-year-old boyfriend.
According to Nevada's Henderson Police Department's Facebook post on Wednesday, August 16, the suspect behind the killing was identified as Devyn Michaels, 45.
Who is Devyn Michaels?
Devyn Michaels is a realtor who reportedly runs her firm Devyn J Michael Exp Realty in Las Vegas, according to her Facebook page.
The 45-year-old woman is now accused of murdering her boyfriend and a Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the victim Johnathan James Willette was decapitated, according to Newsweek.
However, these details of the nature of death have not yet been officially confirmed by the police.
The suspect may have been Willette's ex-girlfriend as his Facebook profile showed him engaged to someone else.
In their update on Facebook, the police stated, "On August 15, 2023, Michaels was taken into custody and booked on one count of Open Murder," the police stated on Facebook.
"This case has not been adjudicated; therefore, no further details will be released at this time," read the statement.
The post further said the authorities of Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to a call from a residence about possibly locating a deceased relative on August 7.
"Officers arrived on scene to discover a 47-year-old male deceased at the scene," the police stated and confirmed, "preliminary investigation revealed the incident to be the result of a homicide."
According to Daily Mail, Willette's body was discovered by his mother.
Johnathan Gillette's body smelled of chemicals
Investigators discovered Gillette's body smelled of chemicals and was still "smoking". The suspect was brought in for questioning during the preliminary investigation.
Michaels vehemently denied the murder initially as she claimed she left Willette's home the night of his homicide.
Later, she confessed to striking the victim on the head. Michaels claimed she had to strike him after she refused his advances.
The suspect also claimed that he was abusive towards her and he would allegedly have her oldest child take showers in front of him, as per the arrest report reviewed by 8News Now.
Who is Johnathan Willette?
Willette began a moving business in Las Vegas following the pandemic. According to Daily Mail, the victim would often be seen in "his truck and trailer all around the Las Vegas valley."
His step-sister Valerie Rivera has set up a GoFundMe page to meet the funeral expenses.
"Johnathan was loved by so many people. Johnathan had the personality and charisma that attracted everyone to him (sic)," read the GoFundMe page description.
"Johnathan leaves behind 2 young beautiful girls, his father JC, mother Yoko, brother Ken, and stepmother Valerie. Rest in Peace Johnathan, we all love you," the statement continued.
