MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: A judge overseeing Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial reportedly issued a limited gag order against the former president on Tuesday, October 3 after he took aim at court clerk Allison Greenfield, and called her “Schumer’s girlfriend", referring to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

During the second day of trial, Manhattan Supreme Court judge Arthur Engoron told all participants in the case not to smear court personnel and threatened “serious sanctions” if the directive was ignored.

“This morning, one of the defendants posted to a social media account a disparaging, untrue post about a member of my staff,” Engoron said in court.

The judge was apparently angered by Trump’s post on Truth Social, where he made disparaging comments about Greenfield, alongside a photo of her posing with Schumer.

A New York University graduate, Greenfield is an experienced clerk who has been with Judge Engoron since 2019. She joined the NY Law Department as senior counsel in a special litigation unit, according to Times Now.

What did Donald Trump say about Allison Greenfield?

In the alleged post, the 2024 White House hopeful called Greenfield “Schumer’s girlfriend” and accused her of “running this case against me.”

“How disgraceful!” Trump wrote in the post, which included the clerk’s full name. “This case should be dismissed immediately!!”

Trump again brought up Schumer and the clerk during a break in the proceedings later that day, asserting that the trial was “rigged” and “fraudulent.”

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for Schumer called Trump’s post “ridiculous, absurd, and false,” and claimed that the senator does not know Greenfield.

“As is well known, Sen Schumer attends countless events in every corner of the state where tens of thousands of constituents take photos with him, just like this one, which was taken at a stop at an annual brunch in Manhattan,” the statement said, according to NY Post.

What does Judge Engoron say about Donald Trump’s post?

After issuing the gag order, Judge Engoron ordered Trump to take down the alleged post. “Although I have since ordered the post to be deleted, it has been mailed out to millions of others,” the judge said.

“Consider this statement a gag order forbidding all parties from posting, emailing, or speaking publicly about any of my staff,” the judge said.

“Personal attacks on members of my court staff are unacceptable, inappropriate and I will not tolerate them in any circumstances. Failure to abide by this order will result in serious sanctions,” he continued.

Engoron is known to involve his law clerks more than the typical judge does, and it’s common for him to huddle with them during a proceeding for a side conference.

Internet slams Donald Trump for taking aim at Allison Greenfield

Judge Engoron’s gag order against Trump garnered immense social media attention, with users slapping the former president for taking aim at Greenfield.

“Trump is a bully and he needs to be put in his place. 😡I am glad that Judge Engoron is standing up to him.👌🏽” one user wrote.

“Trump respects no one and he will definitely violate the order. It's just a matter of time,” a second one wrote while the third said, “Oh please, please, please violate the order Donnie. We want to finally see some concrete actions holding him accountable.”

“I support Trump to violate the gag order so we all can have 30 days of peace and quiet,” another asserted.

“A gag order against Donald Trump... Is probably the best thing for him...” one more said.
