Where is Shaylan Shah? Massive search operation seeks New Jersey teen reported missing over weekend

Shaylan Shah was last seen in the Edison region on July 15 but no specific cause has been established behind his mysterious disapperance

EDISON, NEW JERSEY: Shaylan Shah, a 19-year-old Indian-American teen from New Jersey, was reported missing on Saturday, July 15, after being last seen around the Edison region at approximately 5:50 AM at the same day. His disappearance sparked an immediate search investigation after his family said that they were unable to contact the teen. "We have made contact with NJ Transit police who will be providing support to attempt tracking Shaylan’s whereabouts," the teen's father, Rich, said in a statement, as per The Sun. 

The publication noted that Edison police is reportedly using canine units and other resources in their desperate search for the missing teen. Authorities are also reportedly utilizing both ground and aerial resources to search for Shah. The investigation also reportedly extended beyond local officials, prompting the Indian-American community as well as social media users to actively participate in search activities. People are also working towards providing support to Shah's loved ones amid the difficult situation. 

What is known about Shaylan Shah's whereabouts?

As per official report, Shah was last seen in the neighborhood of Linda Lane and Westgate Drive in Edison, New Jersey, before being reported missing on July 15. "Edison PD seeks your help in locating a missing person: SHAYLAN SHAH, 19 year old Indian Male 508 140 lbs Black Hair Brown Eyes Unknown on Clothing Unknown Possible Destination, Last Seen in the area of Linda Lane & Westgate Drive in Edison. Left the area on foot," the Edison Police Department said in a statement. 

Shah's family also mentioned that there is no update on the missing teen's current whereabouts, at the time of writing and confirmed that they could not contact him since his disappearance. "Unfortunately, we do not know where Shay is heading at this time. We are still concerned about Shay’s well-being and appreciate any ongoing support in finding him," Shah's father, Rich, wrote in a statement, as per The Sun.

Who is Shaylan Shah? 

Shah is a 19-year-old Indian-American teen from New Jersey, who has been missing for four days after being last seen in the Edison region of The Garden State. No specific cause behind his mysterious disapperance has been established so far despite a massive search operation conducted by the Edison Police Department. "At this time, EPD is utilising all of our necessary resources, as well as additional agency resources including, but not limited to, K9 search units and drones. We have also requested assistance from the NJ State Police Search and Rescue Unit," officials mentioned in a statement. 

While Shah's clothing at the time of his disapperance remains unknown, he has been described as  an Indian male with a 5' 8'' height, weighing around 140lbs and having black hair and brown eyes. The teen's father thanked the community and authorities for their support following the disappearance and wrote, "Our family is blessed with the overwhelming support and we know Shay will be found safely. We are grateful for their service and giving us continued hope to validate that he is safe," Rich mentioned about officials.

They also asked people to contact the department at PD 732-248-7400 if anyone has any information regarding Shah's whereabouts.
