DALLAS, TEXAS: James 'Jamie' Faith's horrifying and sickening murder is one of the most tragic cases to come out in recent years. Not only did the Faith family lose a loved and respected man, but they also discovered the inhuman act of his wife Jennifer, who planned his murder.

While the 2020 murder case was quick solved, its echoes continue to last, especially as Jennifer's ex-boyfriend was manipulated into becoming her husband's murderer.

NBC 'Dateline' will be presenting its true crime fans with a 2-hour long report on Faith's murder plot, including an exclusive interview with Darrin Lopez who shot Jamie on that fateful morning.

The episode titled 'Losing Faith' will air on Friday, September 29, at 9 pm ET.

Jennifer Faith used fundraiser proceeds to buy gifts for husband's killer

American Airlines manager Jamie was shot seven times all over his body when he had stepped out for his morning walk with his wife and dog.

Right after Jamie's death, Jennifer became the center of everyone's attention as both the widow and the only witness of her husband's killing in October 2020.

However, her 'innocent' act could not stay up for too long as the police investigators were able to arrest the alleged killer Lopez by recognizing his truck in Tennessee, as reported by Fox 4 News.

The investigation picked up multiple leads as it was soon discovered that Lopez was Jennifer's ex-lover from high school and had gotten in contact with her over email a few months before the killing.

A look into their email conversations revealed that Faith manipulated Lopez, who had been quite protective of her, to think that Jamie was an abusive partner and that she was living in a dangerous household.

She had also used a fake email account to confirm her story in the form of a friend named Rob who convinced Lopez to kill Jamie.

Jennifer also made sure to keep Lopez's pockets full by giving him access to her credit cards.

Not only that but she made many question her humanity even more when it was revealed that she used fundraiser money (around $60,000), raised to provide help to her as Jamie's widow, to buy Lopez expensive gifts, as per CBS News.

Jennifer Faith and Darrin Lopez's imprisonment sentence

Jennifer had taken the frightening steps to have her husband killed to acquire a whopping amount of $629,000 in life insurance death benefits.

It was confirmed that it was her motive behind the murder as the email between her and Lopez revealed that they were planning to use the money to buy a place for Jennifer in Tennessee, according to a report by the US Attorney's Office from North District of Texas

Jennifer had pleaded guilty in the February of 2022, more than a year after Jamie's killing. She was charged with obstruction of justice and use of interstate commerce in the commission of murder-for-hire, according to WFAA. She was later sentenced to life in prison.

Lopez pleaded not guilty on the grounds of manipulation as he was already suffering from trauma from brain injury and other mental health issues from traumatic experiences while serving in the military.

The grounds were dismissed, however, and he was sentenced to 62 years in prison, as per Fox 4 News
