Where is Bob Bashara now? NBC 'Dateline' reruns infamous Gross Pointe Park murder case of Jane Bashara
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jane Bashara's murder case was the talk of the whole country when it happened back in 2012 till the investigators reached the verdict. It was found that her own husband, Bob Bashara, had paid someone else to commit the horrific murder.
In 2020, Bob was reported to have died while he was imprisoned for life at the Michigan Department of Corrections prison. NBC Dateline will be covering this murder case in their upcoming episode which will be a rerun of an old episode from their Season 29 run.
Who is Bob Bashara?
A resident of Grosse Pointe Park, Bob lived along with his family that included Jane, and two children, daughter Jessica Bashara and son Robert Bashara Jr. The 62-year-old was a Rotary Club president in suburban Detroit and owned his own business.
Bob got his handyman, Joseph Gentz, to kill his wife. Gentz strangled her to death in January 2012. After Gentz confessed and revealed Bob as the real conspirator behind the crime, an extended investigation was held. Later, in 2015, Bob was found guilty of first-degree murder among five other counts. The reason behind killing his wife was to freely indulge in his cruel interests in BDSM sex and other depraved practices with other women.
How did Bob Bashara die?
No reports from the prison revealed the cause of Bob's death. He was imprisoned at the MDOC department situated at Whitmore Lake. His inmate had found his unconscious body. Bob was then taken to the Ann Arbor area hospital.
Many had speculated that Covid-19 could be the reason behind his death as he died during a time when cases were at an all-time high in the country. But an MDOC spokesperson Chris Gautz reported to The Detroit News, "I cannot talk about the cause of death due to HIPAA, but in case you were wondering if it was Covid, I can’t say that due to the same privacy law, but I can tell you that there were no positive cases at the prison he was at."
