'NCIS' Season 23 finale release date revealed as heartbreaking loss shakes the team
If you’ve been keeping up with ‘NCIS’ this season, you already know it’s been a wild ride. Just when viewers think things might settle down, the show throws in twist after twist, keeping everyone guessing. Now, there’s finally an official update about when the finale of the ongoing season will air. According to the press release, CBS has scheduled the Season 23 finale for Tuesday, May 12, at 8 p.m. ET. From surprise returns to heartbreaking exits, Season 23 has been juggling a lot, adding to the anticipation surrounding the finale.
One of the biggest talking points came when Emily Wickersham stepped back into the spotlight as Ellie Bishop. But that excitement didn’t last long as the tone soon changed. The death of NCIS director Leon Vance, portrayed by Rocky Carroll, hit hard. And as if that wasn’t enough, the agency itself faced a shutdown, causing uncertainty. Even though the finale date is now confirmed, a few episodes are still set to air, which means the story isn’t done surprising fans yet. If anything, this is usually the point where ‘NCIS’ ramps things up even more. The series continues to follow the Major Case Response Team, led by Supervisory Special Agent Alden Parker, played by Gary Cole.
Working alongside him is a familiar group, including Dr. Jimmy Palmer, brought to life by Brian Dietzen, forensic expert Kasie Hines, played by Diona Reasonover, and field agents Timothy McGee and Nick Torres, portrayed by Sean Murray and Wilmer Valderrama, respectively. Together, they handle cases related to the Navy and Marine Corps, covering everything from cyber threats to high-level criminal activity. Notably, the main show isn’t the only one wrapping up in May. CBS is lining up finales across the entire ‘NCIS’ franchise. ‘NCIS: Origins,’ which secured another season earlier this year, is set to air its finale on May 5 at 9 p.m. ET.
Just a week later, on May 12, ‘NCIS: Sydney’ will close out its season at 9 p.m. ET, right after the main series signs off. For those who don’t want to miss a single episode, ‘NCIS’ continues to air on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Those who subscribe to Paramount+ with the Premium plan can watch episodes live as they air. For everyone else using the platform, new episodes become available the next day. While the upcoming finale will wrap up Season 23, there’s no need to panic about the show’s future, as ‘NCIS’ has already been renewed for Season 24, and the story is far from over.
