In a surprising new update, Netflix is set to bring 'Grand Theft Auto VI' to its streaming platform ahead of the game's release. The streamer will debut an extended look at the highly anticipated title later this month. The special preview will arrive on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET and 12 p.m. PT. Netflix subscribers will get the first look at the new footage.

Netflix announced the partnership with Rockstar Games as excitement around 'GTA VI' continues to build. The platform's executive Brandon Riegg called previous 'Grand Theft Auto' reveals "cultural moments" and said the anticipation for the new game is "unprecedented." He added, "We’re honored that Rockstar Games has partnered with us to debut the next part of the Grand Theft Auto story with Netflix members first."

Fans have waited 13 years for a new mainline 'Grand Theft Auto' game. 'GTA V' launched in 2013 and became one of the biggest games ever released. 'Grand Theft Auto VI' will follow Jason and Lucia as they get caught in a criminal conspiracy across the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar has described the story as a fight for survival after an easy score goes wrong. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The base game will cost $79.99. Rockstar will sell an Ultimate Edition for $99.99. The premium version will include additional vehicles, weapons, apparel, and other content tied to Jason and Lucia's story.

'GTA VI' will be sold as a digital download. Rockstar has mentioned a physical version, but the package will reportedly contain a download code rather than a traditional game disc. For now, fans have another date to mark on their calendars. Netflix's August 27 presentation will offer a fresh look at one of the most anticipated video games of the year.
