Showtime's 90s crime drama 'City on a Hill' will call it a season on Sunday (September 25) with what promises to be a thrilling finale. Directed by Ed Bianchi and based on a script by Matthew Nemeth, the final episode titled 'Whipping Post' will put the spotlight back on Jackie Rohr and Decourcy Ward.

The logline for the finale reads: "As Decourcy prepares to take Sinclair Dryden to trial, despite pushback from the Suffolk County DA, Jackie tracks down a key witness. Siobhan reaches a settlement on behalf of the Mendoza family, but her moment in the spotlight is cut short. Caysen is offered a second chance by a loved one. Reckoning with the rifts in her own family, Jenny meets her long-lost half-brother."

When will 'City on a Hill' Season 4 come out on Showtime?

At the time of writing, there has been no official confirmation from Showtime about the show's renewal. However, what will be surprising is if the series isn't renewed, given the popularity of the show. The crisp writing, the subtle pop culture references, the reliability, the music, and the attention to detail — the bedrocks of the show's success were on full display, and safe to say, a new season will not be any different considering the show sticking to what made it successful in the first place.

Unless there are massive changes, expect much of the cast to reprise their roles in Season 4. Kevin Bacon reprising the role of FBI agent Jackie Rohr, while Aldis Hodge will be seen portraying the character of ADA Decourcy Ward. Lauren E Banks will be back as Siobhan Quay, as does Jill Hennessy as Jenny Rohr.

The official synopsis of Season 3  reads: “Season three of City on a Hill brings us to Boston’s high society, Beacon Hill. Having left the FBI and thrown his badge into Boston Harbor, Jackie Rohr lands a lavish new gig running security for a wealthy family. Life is good until secrets begin to unravel.

When an investigation opens, ADA Decourcy Ward sees an opportunity to finally rip out the machinery perpetuating a broken criminal justice system. Siobhan Quays, representing a construction worker who was severely injured on the Big Dig, encounters the city’s corruption first-hand, all while coping with the traumatic events of her past year. As Jenny Rohr can attest, given her history with her father, some experiences will haunt you beyond your breaking point.”

'City on a Hill' is available for streaming on the Showtime app.
