'City on a Hill' Season 3: Joanne Kelly to Ernie Hudson, meet the new characters in hit Showtime crime drama
It's Boston in focus again as Showtime returns with 'City on a Hill' Season 3. The crime drama first shot to attention when it was announced that Boston boys Ben Affleck and Matt Damon would be executive producing the show. Two seasons and positive critical acclaim later, the show was renewed for a third installment. Originally set for a July 10 release, the postponing was a bit of a dampener for fans after it was pushed to July 31. With a new date and a new storyline to boot, 'City on a Hill' also brings in a slew of new characters this time around.
The returning cast members, Kevin Bacon, Aldis Hodge, Jill Hennessy, Lauren E. Banks, and Matthew Del Negro, and the latest string of additions include — Corbin Bernsen ('First Lady'), Joanne Kelly ('Severance'), and Ernie Hudson ('Grace and Frankie'). Showtime released a trailer that sees Decourcy Ward (Hodge) and Jackie Rohr (Bacon) reunite in a bar. Last seen, the latter called time on his FBI career throwing his badge into the Boston harbor. The teaser reveals the disgraced lawman has been working in a bar, and now he meets his frenemy if Ward could be called that.

Coming back to the latest cast members, Bernsen, a long-time Hollywood veteran shot to prominence for his role as Arnold Becker on the Steven Bochco television series 'L.A. Law' in 1986. He also appeared in Showtime's runaway hit series, 'Billions'. Kelly, a Canadian actress is best known for her roles in blockbuster dramas, 'Severance', 'Godfather of Harlem', and 'CSI: Miami'. Hudson rounds up the list. He's done some quality work in the 'Ghostbusters' film series, 'Franklin & Bash', and 'L.A.'s Finest'.
The official synopsis for Season 3 reads, "Season three brings us to Boston’s high society Beacon Hill. Having left the FBI and thrown his badge into Boston Harbor, Jackie Rohr (Bacon) lands a lavish new gig running security for a wealthy family. Life is good until secrets begin to unravel. When an investigation opens, ADA Decourcy Ward (Hodge) sees an opportunity to finally rip out the machinery perpetuating a broken criminal justice system."

'City on a Hill' Season 3 releases July 31 at 10 pm ET on Showtime. The new season comprises of eight episodes.
