OG 'Narnia' cast reunites to celebrate movie's 20th anniversary and it's a picture-perfect moment
Amidst the fan frenzy of the 'Harry Potter' and 'Lord of the Rings' franchises in the 2000s, 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' had also carved a special place in fans' hearts. Premiered theatrically on December 9, 2005, the movie is now celebrating its 20th anniversary. To add to the celebration, the original star cast—Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Anna Popplewell, and William Moseley—reunited to mark the milestone, making the end of 2025 truly splendid for fans.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', Henley shared on Instagram a reunion of all four Pevensie actors with director Andrew Adamson, capturing the heartwarming moment in photos, as per Screen Rant. Henley shared on Instagram, "I don't really have the words except thank you Andrew for creating real-life magic and letting us be a part of it, and thank you to everyone who loves the film as much as we loved making it."
Notably, the four actors later appeared in two Narnia sequels (with Peter and Susan having reduced roles in the third). 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' was a smashing success, grossing $745 million worldwide, but the next two films saw declining box office returns and critical reception. The franchise stalled after a fourth movie remained stuck in development following 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader'.
Despite this, the original cast and crew are excited about the franchise's future, with Greta Gerwig directing a Netflix-backed adaptation of 'The Magician's Nephew', featuring stars like Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Denise Gough, with Meryl Streep rumored to play the role of Aslan. The 2005 film remains a beloved fantasy classic, cherished by fans who also enjoyed the recent cast reunion. As per reports, Mark Ronson is set to reunite with Gerwig to score her Netflix adaptation of 'The Chronicles of Narnia'.
Reportedly, Gerwig's Narnia will act as a prequel to 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe', focusing on Aslan creating Narnia, with Streep voicing the lion, as per Variety. The film will debut in IMAX on Thanksgiving 2026 for a two-week run before arriving on Netflix at Christmas. Ronson, who earned major award nominations for his music work on 'Barbie', and is busy promoting his memoir 'Night People', is composing the movie's score.
