Grey's Anatomy Season 22 finale is inching closer, and as per one fan favorite, viewers are not ready for what is coming. Camilla Luddington, who plays Dr. Jo Wilson on the long-running show, teased that the finale would be filled with emotional farewells and intriguing cliffhangers during her conversation with PEOPLE. It has already been announced that longtime characters Dr. Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) and Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) will exit the show as regulars. Fans are not privy to how exactly the duo will exit Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Luddington shared that the top secret storyline may cause fans to become a mess, Grey's Anatomy style.

Luddington was giving the interview as part of her collaboration with Get’ems! Squeezies from Gerber. The actress shared that they recently had a table read of Owen and Teddy's departure storyline. She called the plot "beautiful," and praised her co-stars for doing an "incredible job." "I was crying," she added. Characters exiting is nothing new for the show and its actors, but this one is particularly hard for Luddington, as she has spent significant time with the duo. McKidd has been part of the show since Season 5, while Raver joined in Season 6, left after 3 seasons, and returned in Season 14. Luddington has been a part of the show since Season 9. "It's really hard. I mean, we're family, so it's hard ... I think we all hate to say goodbye to anybody. And Kevin directs so many of our episodes. So I'm hoping that he continues to be able to do that next season," Luddington shared about the upcoming departures.

The show has not shied away from killing fan-favorite characters in the past, but this time, they will be taking some other route, according to Deadline. Showrunners are keen to keep the door open to future returns, suggesting the pair will exit the premise alive. There have been some developments in Teddy and Owen's relationship, suggesting they might end their run together. The duo ended things in the Season 21 finale with Teddy delivering the iconic “I’m choosing me” breakup line. Since then, the couple maintained their distance, even signing divorce papers. Things started heating up again when they hooked up in this season's episode 12. Three episodes later, Teddy breathed a sigh of relief that Owen had chosen not to leave the hospital and her by turning down a job offer. It is safe to say that things are complicated.

At present, none of them seems keen to leave the hospital. How and why the exit happens remains up in the air. The final episode will not only provide answers regarding the complex dynamic between Teddy and Owen but also deliver several cliffhangers. "It's not even just one cliffhanger," Luddington shared. "There's just so many cliffhangers in the finale. Like, even as an actor, it's frustrating. I'm like, 'Can I get this script for next season? Can I get the premiere?' " So are there more exits on the card? Is someone getting fired? To get the full picture, viewers need to tune in for the finale on Thursday, May 7 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
