LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: ‘Dear Mama,’ is a forthcoming musical docuseries, which shows musician and rapper Tupac Shakur’s life of 25 years. According to FX, the new docuseries bends typical documentary narrative rules to convey an enthralling storyline of mother and son. Tupac Shakur and Afeni have both died. Tupac died in 1996, barely a year after the release of his song 'Dear Mama', while Afeni Shakur died in 2016.
The music documentary is scheduled to release on FX on April 21, 2023. Also, on Hulu the following day. Allen Hughes, who helmed the 2017 HBO music docuseries 'The Defiant Ones,’ will direct the documentary series. Allen and his brother Albert, often known as the Hughes Brothers, have a long connection with Tupac. Originally, the rapper was cast in their 1993 film 'Menace II Society.' They finally sacked him from the movie and claimed he assaulted them. Tupac was charged with assault and was sentenced to 15 days in prison.

'Dear Mama' explores Tupac Shakur's life and legacy, as well as that of his mother, Black Panther Party activist Afeni Shakur. Also, Shakur describes his childhood poverty and his mother's crack cocaine addiction but argues that his love and strong respect for his mother outweigh the terrible memories.
