'Van Helsing' Season 4 Episode 2 preview: 'Dark Ties' shows Julius training Violet to fend off 'tactical and relentless vampires'

Expect this training sequence to be one plot point of 'Dark Ties', one that may shape Violet into a formidable vampire-slayer

This preview contains spoilers from episode 1: 'Dark Destiny'

In our review of Episode 1, Julius (Aleks Paunovic) is touted to be the man who can save humanity. It was revealed that despite having been cured of his vampirism, Julius still has enhanced healing abilities and is more than capable of taking out multiple armed guards even in a weakened state. His abilities lead Blak-Tek, with some convincing from Doc (Rukiya Bernard), to conclude that Julius could be a valuable asset as his blood may be used to synthesize a serum that could make humans capable of going head-to-head with vampires.

The serum is yet to be developed, and Vanessa (Kelly Overton) is busy trying to hunt down the source of the vampire plague. In the meantime, SYFY has given the world a sneak peek of what to expect in the upcoming episode, 'Dark Ties', and the intrigue factor is all set to mount a notch higher.

You can watch the clip here:

The just over a minute-and-a half-clip sees Julius train Hansen's (Neal McDonough) daughter, Violet (Keeya King) to defend against the vampires. To him, he sees a kid with potential and in a training session, cranks up the intensity.  Violet also has information about Fort Collins as she explains the place as "one of the last remaining outposts."  Julius proceeds to explain that the vampires are the real enemies and are absolutely ruthless when it comes to attacking humans.

The training montage than ups the intensity with Julius coming perilously close to choking Violet to death proving that vampires are tactical and relentless. An enraged violet grabs a spear and attacks Julius and fends him off briefly. Julius seems pleased as the sneak peek ends with him saying "Good! Keep your emotions under control."

Expect this training sequence to be one plot point of 'Dark Ties', one that may shape Violet into a formidable vampire-slayer. Meanwhile, we hope to get more ideas about where Vanessa's mission leads her to next. It has been a rocky task so far and maybe the upcoming installment will shed more light on what awaits Vanessa.

'Van Helsing' Season 4 Episode 2 will air on Syfy October 4.
