'V Wars' Season 1 Episode 8: Luther's son, Dez, could be his key to finding a cure for the vampire disease
Dr. Luther Swann's worst nightmare came true earlier in the season when he realized that his son, Desmond -- called Dez -- had the gene for vampirism on Netflix's 'V Wars'. Luther's actions changed significantly after that as he realized he needed to leave the Department of National Security's (DNS) base and take his son away to save him.
Luther enlisted Teresa's help to do so, however, she was killed by Luther's old friend, and Dez ended up calling his mother, Rachel, for protection. Eventually, Luther gets back in touch with Dez. But the most important aspect here is that though Dez has been sick throughout the last couple of episodes, he did not turn into a vampire, or a "Blood" as the vampires call themselves.
This leads Luther to believe that Dez might hold the key to finding the cure to vampirism. However, this would need Luther performing many tests on Dez and as an 11-year-old boy, Dez does not want that. The process of finding a cure would be long and wouldn't lead to immediate results, but it could pose a lot of danger to Dez should this information leak. There might be those who would want to kidnap Dez and wouldn't consider his life in the pursuit of the cure. Then there might be those who would not wish for a cure for vampirism to become possible, and therefore might just want to kill Dez.
This leads us to wonder whether the Bloods would want to turn back. There are those like Mila Dubov who hates that she has turned into a vampire and would most definitely want to become a normal human again. But there would also be those vampires like Danika and Ava who are living their best lives as Bloods and would not want to give up their powers such as their heightened senses of hearing, smell, sight, and super strength.
