GRIFFIN, GEORGIA: Tyler Schindley, 46, and Krista Schindley, 47, have been charged with attempted homicide, cruelty to children, false imprisonment, and simple battery for neglecting their 10-year-old son and starving him to death. The two homeschooling parents are accused of locking their son inside his bedroom and leaving him alone for “extended periods of time, and on multiple occasions, with no access to lights, food, clothing or adult interaction and/or assistance."
Griffin District Attorney Marie Broder said during a press conference on Tuesday, May 16, “This case is disturbing. It’s heart-breaking. This child was, simply put, being starved to death, and it is tragic. I truly believe that if he had not gotten out of that home, this would be a very different case," reports Daily Beast.

Broder said, “I mean, as a mother, I can’t comprehend it. But as a human being, it breaks your heart. We aren’t releasing any photos of this child for obvious reasons. But I will tell you, the photos are absolutely horrible. And anyone with a human heart who looks at them should be shaken to the core.”
10-year-old boy weighed 36 pounds
Kim Seigler, who lives next door to the family, said a neighbor found the boy barefoot. He only weighed 36 pounds, while police said he had “discolored skin and visible injuries," states Daily Beast.
Seigler told that she had no clue that the boy was 10 as she would see him occasionally and always from a distance, reports 11Alive. "He had on kind of big clothes. I thought he was at the most 6 years old," explained Seigler and further expressed, “I can’t explain how shocked we were, really been affected by this," and added, "That's just horrible. That anyone would be this and by them being my next-door neighbor it makes me wonder if I should have been more observant," as stated by Fox5.
