Trolls compare Rex Heuermann to Tucker Carlson as Internet explodes with Gilgo Beach killer theories

Rex Heuermann was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder in relation to the Gilgo Beach killings

LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Trolls on the internet are making comparisons between Gilgo Beach killer Rex Heuermann and a former Fox News host, referring to Heuermann as a "fat Tucker Carlson". Heuermann, 59, from Long Island was charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder in relation to the Gilgo Beach murders. 

Heuermann is charged with the deaths of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello, whose bodies were discovered wrapped in burlap near Gilgo Beach on Long Island's South Shore in December 2010. All three victims were in their 20s and worked as sex workers. Their remains were found within close proximity to one another, approximately within a quarter-mile radius. Additionally, the death of a fourth victim named Maureen Brainard-Barnes is believed to be linked to the same case.

Fans took to Twitter to make the comparison between the accused serial killer and the fired Fox News host. One user wrote, "Someone in my mentions referred to the Gilgo Beach killer as 'Fat Tucker Carlson' and I can't unsee it." Another agreed, saying, "REX heuermann looks like a fat @TuckerCarlson @FoxNews #GilgoBeach #RexHeuermann Long Island New York gilgo beach." A third asked, "Has anyone seen tucker carlson since gilgo beach butcher was apprehended? Asking for a friend."

One user wrote, "Gilgo beach killer is a tucker carlson look alike," while another added, "Tucker carlson look alike is sadistic gilgo beach killer." "The Gilgo Beach serial killer looks like he went to Party City and bought the 'Tucker Carlson' wig and costume," on social media user wrote.

When was Rex Heuermann arrested?

Heuermann was arrested on Friday, July 14, 2023. Law enforcement also discovered the remains of an unidentified Asian man along Ocean Parkway on April 4, 2011. Moreover, during their investigations, police found the remains of a two-year-old child and her mother, who had been missing since 1997 near the burial sites of two other victims. Furthermore, two sets of remains found in 2011 and 1996 on Long Island and Fire Island were linked through DNA evidence to the same unidentified White woman with scars, referred to as "Jane Doe No. 7". 

According to court documents, Heuermann was identified through a piece of DNA evidence that he unintentionally left behind on a pizza box. On January 26, 2023, the 59-year-old ordered and ate a pizza at his office on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. This crucial evidence led to his identification in the investigation.
