'Titans' Season 2's simple Superboy outfit perfectly reflects Conner Kent’s innocence
'Titans' Season 2's sixth episode introduced the world to the show's Superboy/Conner Kent, played by Joshua Orpin. With his trusty dog Krypto by his side, Conner has quickly proven himself to be one of the show's most endearing characters with his childlike innocence and curiosity for the world. It also helps that he looks... well, super.
Superboy has made some outlandish fashion choices in the comics, including the edgy punk rock Superman look he sports nowadays, that we're glad the designers decided against using for the show. The outfit Orpin wears as Conner has a pretty casual look, consisting of normal blue pants and a simple black t-shirt with Superman's iconic "S" symbol printed on the front in red.
It's basically the same as Superboy's classic outfit from his time on 'Young Justice' (both the animated show and the original comics). Also, as an added bonus, it looks like something a normal teenager would wear for a change.
Despite the similarities in their looks, this Conner Kent isn't a moody teenager with anger issues like the 'Young Justice' Superboy. Mentally, this Conner is still a little child who is only just beginning to learn about the world around him and the fact that he isn't decked out in a full-fledged super-suit helps highlight that immaturity.
This isn't a superhero, he's just a little boy who happens to have superhuman powers. He's not looking to impress anyone with fancy armor or capes, he just needed a fresh change of clothes.
'Titans' has had some impressive, highly-detailed suits this season that have really brought the show's design work into the spotlight but this minimal, realistic outfit was the perfect fit for the character and we wouldn't have it any other way.
'Titans' Season 2's next episode, titled 'Bruce Wayne', will be arriving on DC Universe October 18.
