‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Episode 11: Is Sally still alive? Nicky's beautiful love story will bring tears to your eyes
A beautiful love story is portrayed in the new episode of ‘This Is Us’. If last week's ‘I've Got This’ was all about awkward family dinners and babies, ‘One Small Step’ brings an unexpected guest to Kevin Pearson's (Justin Hartley) home.
Uncle Nicky (Griffin Dunne) travels across the country to visit his great-nephew and niece to give them a lovely surprise. Along with Nicky and Kevin's bond, his intimate life and love story with Sally (Genevieve Angelson) is splashed in the flashback.

In the old days, Nicky is seen as a shy boy who doesn't really open up easily. When Sally comes into his life, it only makes it enriching as she makes him smile and yearn for the close comfort of a new person. In one poignant scene, Sally almost scolds Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) when he tries to help set up a date for them and boldly asks Nicky out.
The time they spend with each other brings a warm and fuzzy feeling. It feels like memories of those adorable love stories scratched in old notebooks and tucked away in hidden cardboard boxes. As they get closer, it makes you wonder: What really happened to their love story? Is Sally still alive? How did Cassidy come into Nicky's life?
Fans have tons of questions in their minds. “Did Nicky’s parents know he’d come home from Vietnam? Was he in contact? Also: did he have a relationship with anyone after he came home?” one asked and another said, “Does the ring symbolize marriage & to whom?!” A third asked, “Is this Sally still alive and does Nicky have a kid he never knew about ?!?!”

‘This Is Us’ premiered on Tuesday at 9 pm ET on NBC after the mid-season winter break with Episode 5 titled ‘A Long Road Home’ on January 5, 2021. The latest Episode 11 titled ‘One Small Step’ was televised on March 23, 2021, at 9 pm ET. The episode will be able to stream on Hulu the next day, on March 24, 2021.
