What is The Pizza Cupcake?
Just as the name suggests, pizza cupcake is pizza in the form of a cupcake. It’s stuffed with mozzarella cheese and topped with tomato or pepperoni, surrounded by melt-in-your-mouth dough. The website describes pizaa cupcake as, "Flaky, savory, and filled with deliciously fresh mozzarella and San Marzano tomato. All wrapped in a trade-secret dough that melts in the mouth with the taste of truly authentic Italian pizza." This high-quality gourmet snack was launched in 2018 and is currently available in two variants — margherita and pepperoni. The founders of this unique product are currently working on creating a vegan and gluten-free variation of this snack too.
Pizza Cupcake may be a realitvely new entrant in the market, but it has already managed to grab all the right attention. In 2019, one of the founders of Pizza Cupcake — Chef Andrea Meggiato — appeared on Mariah Carey's talk show 'Moments with Mimi'. On the show, he demonstrated how to make a delicious pizza. By the end of the episode, Mariah was so impressed by Andrea's skills and knowledge that she declared him as "King of The Pizza Cupcake."
Who are the founders?
Husband and wife duo Andrea Meggiato and Michelle Jimenez-Meggiato, are the founders of The Pizza Cupcake. In January 2018, Andrea quit his job to pursue his culinary passion, which gave birth to Pizza Cupcake. By August 2018, the couple began getting several orders from their friends and family. The couple slowly but steadily began hitting several huge milestones while building their business. Like in less than a year since setting up their business, The Executive Chef at Citi Field offered The Pizza Cupcake a stadium concession opportunity, opening a new distribution channel. 2019 was a big year for The Pizza Cupcake, as they got their second outdoor market at World Trade Center. According to the company's website, a 45-minute wait line began forming outside of the Pizza Cupcake stall. In the same year, Andrea even managed to impress Mariah Carey, and ended the year by delivering several of their yummy goodies to various corporate parties and events.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, the company still managed to maintain its stellar success rate by pivoting to e-commerce websites for selling their delicious treats. In no time, the company once again began getting recognition from across the country for its gourmet goodies.
