Amazon Prime Video is gearing up to release a new comic thriller 'The Outlaws'. Directed by Stephen Merchant, the series follows seven strangers who are obliged to serve a Community Payback sentence. They find a sack full of money while cleaning out an abandoned community hall, unknowing of the hazards it entails.

What is 'The Outlaws' all about?

According to Amazon Studios, "The Outlaws is a comedy thriller about a disparate group of lawbreakers thrown together to complete a community service sentence. Seven strangers from different walks of life are forced to work together to renovate a derelict community center. When one of their number gets dragged into a dangerous world of organized crime, they unite in ways none of them thought possible."

Who stars in 'The Outlaws'?

Stephen Merchant

Stephen James Merchant is a stand-up comedian, writer, director, actor, and presenter. He co-wrote and co-directed the British TV comedy series 'The Office' (2001–2003) with Ricky Gervais, and co-wrote, co-directed, and co-starred in both 'Extras' (2005–2007) and 'Life's Too Short' (2011–2013). He presented 'The Ricky Gervais Show' on radio, podcast, audiobook, and television with Gervais and Karl Pilkington. The radio version earned a bronze Sony Award.



 

Christopher Walken

Christopher Walken is an actor and comedian, who has starred in over 100 films and television shows. He has won and been nominated for several accolades and nominations, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 'The Deer Hunter.' For 'Catch Me If You Can,' he was nominated for the same award and won BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Awards. In the United States alone, his films have generated more than $1 billion.

The series also stars Rhianne Barreto, Gamba Cole, Eleanor Tomlinson, Darren Boyd, Clare Perkins, and Jessica Gunning.

Who are the showrunners?

Stephen Merchant—who also acts as an executive producer, director, and writer— and Elgin James co-created 'The Outlaws,' a Big Talk and Four Eyes production. Big Talk also has executive producers Luke Alkin, Kenton Allen, and Matthew Justice. 'The Outlaws' is a BBC One and Amazon Studios co-production.
