FX 'The Old Man' Episode 3: Emily's story intrigues viewers, fans ask 'who's really her daddy?'

'The Old Man' on FX just gets better by the episode. The Jeff Bridges-starrer picked up after the two-hour premiere last week and focused more on the relationship with his wife Abbey Chase (Leem Lubany). Episode 3 toggles between the past and the present where Chase (Bridges) is on the run, this time with a hostage or accomplice (however the CIA looks at it) in Zoe (Amy Brenneman). There was also a startling revelation in the early minutes of the episode with Emily (Alia Shawkat) shown to be Chase's daughter.

With Chase and Abbey fleeing from Hamzad, the Afghan warlord, the latter is bent on finding Chase, presumably to exact revenge, and EJ Bonilla's Waters is suspected to be in touch with Hamzad. The hour-long episode focuses more on the past rather than the key character, but it's Shawkat's Emily who steals the show.

"Think there's more to Emily/Angela's story.... Who's really her daddy? #TheOldManFX," one of the fans asked as the show came to an end. "Well said Emily, you were the best person to talk to Zoey...OMG right under everyone's nose wow they'll never find you Emily #TheOldManFX #TheOldMan," a fan opined. "My theory was correct about Emily. Yay! #TheOldManFX," another wrote. "But can we talk about Emily, letting emotion get in the way... She almost blew it #TheOldManFX," a tweet read.

The plaudits from the season premiere extended to Episode 3. "The Old Man” on FX/Hulu. I can not recommend it highly enough. A+ acting and movie-quality production. Fantastic. #TheOldManFX," one of the fans tweeted. "#TheOldManFX was pretty good tonight. This show is starting to kick it into gear and next ep looks good. @FXNetworks keep up the good work," a tweet read. Back to Emily, the confusion about who her father was continued. "Hmmm, is the daughter biologically Chase's or does she belong to the first husband? Is that who/what Hamzad is really after? #TheOldManFX," a fan asked.

One of the scenes almost saw Emily blow her cover of being Chase's daughter. "If you want to keep a secret you must also hide it from yourself." Angela clearly isn't good at that and it will be found out! #TheOldManFX." a fan remarked.
