Netflix drops major 'The Night Agent' Season 3 update with explosive first look
'The Night Agent' Season 3 will be in earlier than expected on Netflix. The streamer dropped a major release date update, while also giving fans a sneak peek of what to expect in the third instalment. The hit spy thriller starring Gabriel Basso in the lead returns just over a year after the premiere of season 2 this year.
Along with the release date, Netflix also released several images from the new season and gave a quick look at Peter Sutherland's next assignment. Per THR, the cast features returning actors Louis Herthum, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Albert Jones, Ward Horton, and Amanda Warren alongside new faces in Stephen Moyer, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, and Genesis Rodriguez.
The official logline reads, "Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young Treasury agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist. Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process."
Earlier, in an interview with TIME, Basso teased what was in store for his character in the third season after season 2 ended on an explosive note. "He's trying to answer that question himself of, ‘I can’t undo what I did in Season 2, but can I be a hero again? Or is this now my destiny to sort of be a fence rider until I get torn in half?" the actor said. "It's an intense season,” he says. “I don't want to say there's less going on, but there's more weight to things. It feels like Sean and the writers are building to something great."
The series is created by Shawn Ryan, and the showrunner also serves as the executive producer alongside Marney Hochman, Seth Gordon, and Julia Gunn. Rounding up the EP list are James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and Nicole Tossou, along with David Beaubaire, Munis Rashid, Paul Bernard, Guy Ferland, and Seth Fisher.
'The Night Agent' Seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
