Explosive 'The Night Agent' 3 trailer sees Peter Sutherland rue his "deal with the devil"
Netflix dropped the official trailer of 'The Night Agent' Season 3 along with new images ahead of its February 19 release. Explosive and gritty, the clip sees the return of Gabriel Basso's Peter Sutherland, who deals with his demons of making a deal with shady business giant Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum) in Season 2 to save Rose and NY's citizens in exchange for top secret UN information.
"I made a deal with the devil. I saved a lot of people, but now every time something goes wrong, I have to wonder if I’m responsible,” Peter laments after a terrorist attack on a plane. The trailer also sees the return of Chelsea (Fola Evans-Akingbola), while Jennifer Morrison gets a quick glimpse as First Lady Jenny Hagan, wife of President Richard Hagan (Ward Horton).
Per the streamer, the official logline reads, "Night Agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is called in to track down a young Treasury Agent, Jay Batra (Suraj Sharma), who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss. This kicks off a sequence of events where Peter investigates a dark money network while avoiding its paid assassins, putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist, Isabel (Genesis Rodriguez). Working together, they uncover buried secrets and old grudges that threaten to bring the government to its knees — and get them both killed in the process."
Returning alongside Basso, Herthum, Evans-Akingbola, and Horton are Albert Jones and Amanda Warren, along with new faces in Stephen Moyer, Callum Vinson, David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, and Genesis Rodriguez.
Earlier, in an interview with TIME, Basso teased what was in store for his character in the third season after season 2 ended on an explosive note. "He's trying to answer that question himself, ‘I can’t undo what I did in Season 2, but can I be a hero again? Or is this now my destiny to sort of be a fence rider until I get torn in half?" the actor said. "It's an intense season,” he says. “I don't want to say there's less going on, but there's more weight to things. It feels like Sean and the writers are building to something great."
'The Night Agent' is created by Shawn Ryan, and the showrunner also serves as the executive producer with Marney Hochman, Seth Gordon, and Julia Gunn. Rounding up the EP list are James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and Nicole Tossou, along with David Beaubaire, Munis Rashid, Paul Bernard, Guy Ferland, and Seth Fisher.
Seasons 1 and 2 of 'The Night Agent' are streaming on Netflix.
