The first episode of the series, titled 'Just You Wait and See,' traces the journey of Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) and Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche) as they navigate their lives amidst the German occupation.
Nazis seek Coco Chanel to carry her couture to Berlin
With her funds confiscated and her nephew Andre Palasse (Joseph Olivennes) seized by the Nazis and still ailing, Coco Chanel finds herself facing immense challenges both personally and professionally during the height of the Nazi occupation.
Upon discovering that her friend Baron Vaufreland (Christopher Buchholz) will be arrested by the Nazis if she fails to attend an upscale formal dinner with them, Coco grapples with a difficult decision.
Reluctantly, she decides to attend the dinner, where she encounters Hans Von Dincklage, known as Spatz (Claes Bang), a charming Nazi official, and they share meaningful glances.
During the dinner, Coco's sharp wit catches the attention of Heinrich Himmler (Thure Lindhardt), who is impressed by her demeanor and requests that she establish Berlin as the global center of fashion.
Coco Chanel meets Walter Kutschmann
Following the dinner, Coco and Spatz share intimate moments together, eventually ending up in bed.
Initially hesitant, Coco rejects Spatz's invitation to meet with high-ranking Nazi official Walter Kutschmann (Cornelius Obonya). However, she ultimately agrees to attend the party.
At the event, Walter Kutschmann takes Coco aside and proposes that if she undertakes certain unspecified responsibilities for the Germans, she will regain sole ownership of her company
As the episode concludes, Coco appears to be enjoying the company of the Germans, though it remains unclear whether she has accepted the offer or not
