'The Masked Singer' slammed for airing sing-along episode, fans say 'we want to see the masks come off'
'The Masked Singer' did not feature a new episode today(April 15). Instead, the show returned with 'The Masked Singer Sing-along Spectacular' comprising a recap of fan-favorite performances of all the contestants this season with the lyrics on-screen so that the audiences at home could sing along with their favorite contestants.
The dreaded coronavirus has affected everything around the world including the production of major shows being put on halt and 'The Masked Singer' is not immune to it. The final face-off episode will, however, air on April 22 with Kitty, Frog, Rhino and the Banana going head to head and there will be one contestant going home after which the show will get its Top 6 contestants.
Viewers who waited all week long for the new episode were not happy with the sing-along episode. A lot of them took to Twitter to vent their displeasure. "So nobody is getting unmasked tonight...I hate it here #TheMaskedSinger #MaskedSingerFox" wrote a user.
While another fan tweeted, "WE DIDN’T ASK FOR A SING-ALONG! WE WANT TO SEE THE MASKS COME OFF! Someone needs to be fired! #TheMaskedSinger"
"Seriously? We’re been stuck in our houses for weeks and they pull this fraud show crap! Not cool in any way shape or form. #TheMaskedSinger" wrote another fan.
"#TheMaskedSinger wth. That sucked. Give us a real episode. My family hated it so much I actually got on twitter for the first time in 6 years just to let you know we hated the “rerun singalong” episode. Please don’t ever do that again," wrote another disappointed fan.
"I feel personally victimized by the fact that #TheMaskedSinger is a “sing along” special and nobody get revealed tonight. Ew," wrote a fan.
"@MaskedSingerFOX I was obsessed with you the first 2 seasons but this 3rd one has finally turned me off for good. Too stretched out, terrible editing (very, very bad), and now a stupid sing-along episode with no reveal? #TheMaskedSinger #jumpingtheshark," read another tweet.
However, looks like fans of the show will have to be a little patient as an all-new after-show has also been announced titled 'The Masked Singer: After the Mask' where host Nick Cannon will be seen interacting with the masked celebrity contestants. This will air immediately after the main show and will also include “stunts, games and impromptu musical performances," according to Fox.
'The Masked Singer' airs Wednesday nights on Fox.
